  • Know what you mean sea - feels good the payments hitting the account but interest still added at the mo means it makes very little difference. But ho hum at least we're heading in the right direction. My house is a tip too but not cause of ebay cause I have 4 lazy children who are all very good at untidying - lol. night, night!

Wow you've all been busy today - lots of pages to read through

Welcome Ilovegreatdanes I do too but have a hungarian Vizsla - much smaller and cheaper

Idaas I used to have a three legged cat called Pod - short for tripod.

Sea I wanted to post replies to lots of people too but can't remember who now - made a point of remembering your one though :rotfl:

Everyone who has had first payments show going from cccs remember and tell creditors to expect payment around 27th or 28th. To start with we used to say cccs made payments on 25th and used to get letters on 26th saying no payments had been recieved and we had defaulted. Other than that it is now only Bank of Scotland who give us any problems. They request an update every six months and even though I tell them we only do a review annually with cccs, so they are only going to get exactly the same as the last one, they tell us we should be doing a review every three months as "things change". Not the amount your getting it isn't :rotfl: They were also the only ones who carried on charging us every month. Two accounts each getting a £28 charge plus interest. They only get £11 and £8 so was so relieved when they finally stopped. I am glad somepeople have had success with claiming back charges while on dmp's. I think I'll go ahead and start claiming mine back. Unfortunately we can only claim 5 years back in Scotland and as I've been on the dmp for three years and most charges stopped back then it means I'll only get two years back. But then they were probably the worst two years.

Today went really well for granda's funeral. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and his grave looks out towards the sea which he has lived beside all his life so I'm happy with that. Saw lots of family I haven't seen for so long. Some I haven't seen for over 10 years. Dad very quietly let me know that there will be a little bit of money coming my way. Probably only 1 or 2 hundred but more than I expected. Thought it would all go towards just Dad and his brother and sister but apparently all of the grandchildren are to get something and all of the great-grandchildren got given £10 today. The whole time going up in the car I was trying to spot a florist so I could get something to place on his grave but could never find one. Popped into a morrisons and although the flowers were really nice and also cheap they all looked just too much like a bouquet ifkwim. I wanted to just get four stems of sea-holly or something from us 4. I'll just be more organised next time I go up there and bring something to put on all 4 grandparents graves.

Must say it was the first time I have ever seen a Church of Scotland minister wearing an ear-ring. Apparently he caused a sensation in the village when he first arrived.:rotfl:

Gosh another epic from me lol:rotfl:

    Good morning all!

Hope everyone has a splendid day. Mine's started well - finally had a bank transfer appear on my new account, so now I can officially set up direct debits for those folk who've been sending me slightly worried letters wondering why things haven't been paid!

    phew. Relief all around.

It means I can now finally sort things out!

    Have a good one all!

... So, toodling along on my way to work this morning, I was thinking about the things I would have done differently in my life, and would I be able to do them now. Obviously the whole "I couldn't afford it, even if I wanted to" came into it, but it made me think, if money was no object, what would I want to do ... and I thought I could ask you guys too!

Personally, I would revisit my childhood ambition to take to the stage, and get myself properly trained in acting, singing and dancing. Then I would be fabulous, become famous and earn a shed load! Either that or run a lovely little tea shop!

    Who's next?

Got home to find GE had rung 5 times during the day!!! They rang again so I answered and told them no it wasn't convenient and if it was about the missed payment I only received my statement on Saturday so if they'd actually allow a chance for the payment to go through instead of ringing 5 times a day when I was out then it would clear!!

Got my forms from CCCS to sign up for the DMP, along with the template to send to all creditors. No month suggested for a start date so guess that makes it up to me or something??

OH is worried that bailiffs will turn up, so have tried to reassure him.

Got all my ID bits with me so off to open a new bank account today and we'll see what happens. :o

PS. I'd love to run a tea shop as well - all home baking - but as long as I could afford someone to wash up!! :D

    Hi all

Just thought I'd say good morning. It's such a beautiful day today in London. Thanks for all the kind words yesterday, you'll be pleased to know the OH was the first to apologise when he came home. Gave me a big hug and said that in the big scheme of things all that really matters is that we love each other (yuk, I know! but at the time it was what I needed to hear ;)) The curry went down a treat too - a tip for anyone else who is a budding chef: don't buy the sauces, make your own with curry paste, fresh chillies and tinned tomatoes (it tastes so much better).

I feel much better because I've also come clean to my manager. My arthritis (she knew about this already) has been getting worse recently, which means that most mornings I am a bit late, as I have to spend some time stretching. She said not to worry about it because she knows I work late most days and my work is good. I am so relieved. Yesterday, the office manager had a go at me for being late, even though it has nothing to do with her, and she demanded I let her know when I'll be late in future. As I didn't want to admit why I was late (she has a big mouth), I just apologised. Of course, now I'll tell her to mind her own business the next time she says anything.

I can't say I've got as great a memory as Teecee but I'm going to try to respond to everyone:
Scottish Mummy - I am glad the funeral went well, the way you described it sounds beautiful.
Joek - Congrats on your first transfer! You're on a roll: first your two star virginity, now this! It won't be long now before those nasty latters and calls will be obliterated.
DaisyB - Go for it girl! I wanted to be an actress too - one of my biggest regrets was not trying. I felt obliged to use my useless degree in Philosophy and get a proper job. Now I'm stuck in an office most of the time, unless I'm travelling (in which case I'm mostly stuck in an airport, then another office!) - and I really hate my job. PR should be glamorous but it isn't. So aim high, preferably for your dream job!
Sea - Can't remember how old you said you were (31??) but did you used to go to Move on Up at the Underground on a Wednesday night? If so, I may have known you - I used to go there religiously and knew everyone.
Newlywed - Please tell your husband that a bailiff can't just turn up, they need to give you notice. And even then, you would have to be much further down the line, before it got to the stage of bailiffs. Whatever happens, NEVER let them in without a warrant (can't remember what this is called - a court order?). They will most likely not have one the first time they turn up.
Teecee - What are you studying?
Ex-Spen - Firstly well done. Secondly, how long did it take from the day your first payment left your account to the date all your creditors accepted?
IDAAS - Thumper is a great name for a rabbit, a classic! Mine's called Benji.
Neith - You must not give in to MBNA. They know (and assume you don't) that if you make payments outside the DMP, however small, you are in fact letting your creditors know that you have extra money, thereby invalidating the DMP. If any of the others found out, you could ruin your chances of getting the DMP accepted - or if it has already been accepted, they may change their minds.

Winkus, Ilove, Valley's, Smile and Kelly (or anyone else I've left out) - please accept my apologies for not responding. I will next time. It's just that my memory is too short to keep up with everyone.

They're not that bad in the first stages, just standard arrears ones saying that you need to bring your account up-to-date. Hopefully your DMP will kick in before the really bad ones come. I forget whether you are doing your own or not?

Well done! The ball is now well and truly rolling. The letters shouldn't be too bad, as lonely says, it will be standard you haven't paid us enough, usually with a request to call them.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the day with the lovely weather. It's quite nice here, too!
