Daisey and Newlywed, sorry to hear you are down. :grouphug:

you'll just have to win a PS3 then. Why buy something if you can win it? There are loads of comps about for it. I should have one soon. :rotfl: My father in law was round yesterday and asked why we don't have a big LCD TV. I told him I haven't won it yet. He looked at me like I was barking mad (well I am but he could have been discreet). :rotfl: :rotfl:

Dan, I'm not well up on the insurances etc with loans and CCs. Probably because I've never taken any as I've always thought I could make payments no matter what. :rotfl: From what I have seen on these boards though people seem to believe that all that insurance isn't worth paying so it may be worth starting a thread of your own to see what advice you can get.

Either way, one month of reduced payments to your creditors isn't going to make them break out in a tantrum - I've had missed payments before I started on my DMP, and all they've done is add the appropriate interest and a late pay fee...which, in the grand scheme of the DMP I've gone onto wasn't the end of the world!

I've done the CCCS plan on the website and clicked for them to send the sign up pack. So just waiting for that at the moment.

GE seem to be having a paddy fit because I only paid 2/3rds of the payment - not even a complete miss!! They've been ringing every day but I've chosen not to answer at the moment!! :o I only got the statement on Saturday with a note saying pay the rest immediately and don't use your card, but they've been ringing since Thursday .

On the plus side though, the statement was actually £200 LESS than I expected so my DFD may end up a tiny bit nearer (unless they dump a load of interest on it).

Need to go and open a new account this week I think so that my wages can get paid somewhere else. OH has a cheque account with an electron card but with no overdraft. Is that kind of thing ok for a DMP - not having a cheque book or electron card could cause me some problems :o If the car dies then I'll need to do internet shop etc.

Heres a bit about me!! I'm female, 34 years old and from Essex. I have three children 8, 4 and 2 years old. I got into this trouble because I wanted to go part time when I had my children. Obviously this meant a pay drop. The debts were already high but by then we were unable to meet the minimum payments. Credit score appalling and now we are with CCCS and starting on 1st April:j

My dear DH is very supportive. He always has been. Its me with the problem!!! I told him we were taking out consolidation loans and he just signed where I pointed. We are secret debtors. My family think I am the sensible one:rotfl: If only they knew.

Today I feel really bad as I overspent in Asda just now. A dvd the kids would love came out and I bought it:eek:

However I did buy a notebook to record spends in!!!

I really do need a buddy to keep me on the straight and narrow!!!!

Joek Can you remember how many posts it was to get your second star? I was watching, but I missed the actual number, sorry!

    db xx

It was 150...a number forever etched on my mind :D

Ex-spend - good call on the comp front. Someone's got to win haven't they?

winkus - we're here to keep you in check (just don't get us started on sweets...). Have a winge, have a moan or just have a chat, I think I speak for us all when I say at the moment (until Martin finds out!) you're more than welcome!

Newleywed, you will get sorted with GE, it may not seem like it at the minute but believe me you will get all those creditors on board. About 6 weeks ago I thought I'd never get a handle on debts, I thought the creditors would always phone me all day everyday, I thought that the Royal Snail would soon start sending a van with my nasty letters. :rotfl: It's all better for me now and it will all be better for you and everyone else on this thread.

I have 2 accounts with GE. One agreed to the DMP fairly easily. The other persistently claimed not to have received anything from CCCS. They never phoned me as they didn't have my number. They did however write to me on a daily basis. I used to get 2 letters per day - 1 for each account. However they have now agreed to the DMP and they will agree for you too. When they phone the next time, answer it say you are with CCCS give them the reference number and tell them you want communication only in writing in future. Debt is stressful enough without all that going on.

Also with regard to the debit card, I've been reading threads on here about prepaid debit cards. Basically you buy one at £9.99. You then upload money on to it. You can do it by those payzone points you see in loads of shops, send them a cheque or transfer money from your account or whatever. It seems they charge 2/3% a month to run it. I'm seriously thinking of getting one myself. Yes they charge but it's better than paying Hellifax £39+ every time I spend money I don't have and it means you can shop online. There is no credit check or anything for these cards.

Thanks Ex. It's good to hear from those who have been through it. If you just know how long they will be likely to complain for, then it gives you a bit more comfort (rather than thinking it will go on for the life of the DMP).
