It's interesting to see how much you guys have accumulated. I rarely have any paper cash to get change etc so I'd find it difficult. I suppose the virtual one would be best for me though?!

    Great work, keep it up!

Whatever works for you is good :T

60p today, had to go to Mr C for flour & eggs for baking. Why I didn't get them yesterday with the other shopping is a mystery - Oh no it's not, it's my age! :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope everyone's out enjoying the lack of rain :j

    Afternoon one and all.
Still running around I could do with a clone of me!!!

    Wouldn't that be great??

    XLC2

Oh please, LC 2, thoughts of just one of you is plenty honest.....

.....and as nu1isit? points out "Is your DH ready for such a thing to happen??!!
Have been for the last leg of my dental treatment in Budapest and can now start saving again :)!!

Susanne, do you go to Budapest purely to save cash on dental bills here or.......?

Hi Wood.Justin, you're probably quite right if you get very little cash. However, if you decide to have a go here, come back and just say the word. Good luck with saving however you do it.

A few pence in the pot, not a lot, but better than nowt.

Rubbish Rosy, as you said the other day 50 is a good age!

I hope everyone's enjoying a relatively dry day today, black as thunder here a little while ago, but it passed off. Washing's out, but not billowing in the wind as I love to see it...barely a breeze even! :(
Enjoy the rest of the day, everyone, then get ready for the rain - again. :(

    Hi SusanneCape
We're off to Budapest in November, can you recommend any sites/restaurants etc to visit? Hope the last of your dental treatment went well :D

    Hi Sparky,

Of course. Let me get my guides out to refresh my memory on how to get to some of the sites and I will let you have some tips. For a start, NEVER hail a taxi on the street. Always ring your hotel and ask for them to send one. Or, get the bus/walk (if it is not too far). Those off the street cost 3x as much.

Budapest is a great city. You will love it. One side of the river is called Buda, the other is called Pest and it is FULL of history.

As everyone else has said, it's whatever works for you. Since starting this challenge, I've started doing things like my weekly shop in cash (not my petrol though, as that would mean wandering around with wads of cash like a gangster) so that I have change for the tin. This has the side effect that I spend less (I notice cash spending more than I do when I pay by card) and find it easier to budget, as I'm not waiting for as many card payments to appear on my account.

£1 in the main pot, and 5p in the shrapnel jar...

Hi Sue, yes, it really came down to saving cash, and a massive amount at that. I was in a head-on collision in South Africa 10 years ago (a drunk in a massive 4x4 pulled over into my lane) and suffered quite a lot of trauma to my face, resulting in my teeth becoming mobile sooner than expected. I was quoted £22,000 for my top gums here in the UK, and £6,400 in Budapest. The dentists in Budapest are extremely professional and I am loving my teeth. They have free pick up/drop off to and from the airport and the appointments and arrange hotel accommodation cheaper than if you booked it yourself. They also have rooms in London so any pre and post operative care can be sorted in the UK.

I just wish I could put the difference that I saved into my pot :D!!!

I suppose if you put it like that, LC 2, then maybe a clone mighn't be a bad idea - just watch out that sparky doesn't have one done of himself too!!! Good news about saving the £5er too!

No matter how you dress it up, or down, sparky, you're doing so well in getting all that extra OT. Budapest in November, NY & Chicago next year and mortgage destruction in process - how good does it get!!! :j

    All the best,

Good Heavens above, Susanne!!!!! Poor you in the first place, lucky you too in the end. What a disgraceful difference in charges!!! Why does our government allow these outrageous things to happen to it's own?!!! We get s**ewed every which way over here - it's appauling.

Anyway, well done you for finding out that you CAN get folk to help and still be happy with the workmanship :T, it has to help lessen the pain a lot, especially after such a nasty accident in the first place!

Best wishes to you, Susanne and thanks so much for letting me know. :)

Brilliant news, RedGoose!! :T Much better off in keeping to cash where possible, far less likely to spend so much either.

A whole £10 in the pot after shopping this morning! :D

See ETO, I listened to you the other day and DH & I are going to force ourselves to pop at least a tenner in each week. :grinheart Thanks so much for explaining it to us all.

Keep safe, healthy and saving, everyone.
