what two words in one/sayings irritate you?

When someone's asked how they are and they reply with "not three bad." My OH does it constantly (obviously thinks he's being so witty) and I just want to rip his tongue out. :rotfl:0
-
Another couple of phrases:
Six of one and half-a-dozen of the other
Joined-up thinking
That last one particularly riles - it's politican-speak and makes me want to spew.0 -
My DH drives me up the wall as he constantly says "I'm sure you probably..."
E.g. Me: I wonder if you can buy such a thing as XYZ product
Him: I'm sure you probably can
You're either sure, or you think it's probable. Argh!0 -
Okay, possibly offensive opinion here, when I see on the forums "Thanks in advance" (a smug way of saying "I know i'll get what I want/need of course- what's wrong with saying thanks afterwards like normal people?) and "happy to help/HTH2 (another smug saying, poster has no idea beyond ego that they have indeed helped), my blood boils lol.
Nothing to do with the thread title but it irritates me when people are over apologetic about posting on a thread, for example on a thread entitled 'Any mums of three year olds want to chat' say 'I hope no-one minds if I join this thread, please tell me if I need to post somewhere else, I have a three year old, gosh I hope no-one minds me joining in'
Feel better for getting that off my chest :rotfl:0 -
My colleague based his leaving speech around the fact that he was glad to be leaving as he would never again have to say the word "synergy" !"happy to help/HTH2 (another smug saying, poster has no idea beyond ego that they have indeed helped), my blood boils lol.
But when I use HTH it means "hope this helps"You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
"Rain check" makes me angry!
Also I find 'scuse' (short for excuse me) very rude and quite offensive, if you want me to move out of your way at least have the manners to say excuse me! scuse is no better then just saying move!0 -

Or, even worse. "Mind your back"! Since when has this been an acceptable way of asking someone to move???:rotfl:0 -
From reading the paper - here's another one I can't stand:
achingly trendy0 -
No offence, but ... (an offence normally follows)
Sweet! (just shuddered when I typed it)Some days I wake up Grumpy ... Other days I let him lie in.0 -

Or "I'm not being nasty, but..." It is like people on here who write something really cruel on the forum and put a smiley after it, as if that negates the horrible thing they have just written. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
