No buying unnecessary toiletries in April - Challenge

Hi All,

I'm back in for April - noticed my purchases, although not ridiculous, crept up a bit last month from when I started in January and February. Will try harder in April! Last couple of UU from March which I didn't declare yesterday:

Asquith & Somerset Foam Bath - WNBA - Smelt nice enough and makes nice bubbles but didn't feel moisturising so although I'd use again if I was given some I doubt I actually bother to buy it.

L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream - WBA and probably soon! Was only a 1ml sachet so only got one use out of it but was very impressed and a little mystified! Comes out as a greyish white paste with little beads in it but when you put it on it it reacts to your skin tone in some very clever way. It then has the coverage of a tinted moisturiser but here's the great bit, its not at all wet or oily and you don't need powder to set it/reduce shine if you want to use it on its own rather than a base. Think I'll definitely buy some of this at some point - infinitely better for me than the Garnier version.

No. 7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes - WBA - although I find these a little more scratchy than they used to be, possibly before the packaging was altered, they are very effective at quickly taking off a full face of makeup and if I've ever a No. 7 voucher and no pressing need for another product it will generally go on these so no doubt will BA at some point, although I'd never pay full price for them at £7!

Stash list needs updating with all of last months IN and UU so will do that later on when I've a little more time and post.

I too have been alternating 'nice' products against some that I'm not too fond of but are determined to UU and reduce the stash in the hope that using this method will stop me falling off the bandwagon altogether!

Willowbee, what about putting a shortened list in your purse to remind you of what you have got at home, i.e shower gels x 20, mascaras x 5 etc.

I personally have found it really helpful to put £1 in a pot everytime I use something up and everytime your feel tempted to buy something remind yourself what you are saving up for with your pot. I am now saving up for my 3rd pot which will go towards spending money for our holiday. This has helped to stay focussed. Good luck!

Hey everyone

I've followed this thread since the beginning of the year and have not bought any new toiletries (don't think i'm ever gonna run out of S and G stuff). I finally decided to join though as i've been tempted to splurge later and i want to stay strong. I have enough toiletries for at least another six months, and probably till the end of the year. So i don't want any INS till i run out (i'm not counting make up which is probably a good thing since i ordered a Nars blush the other day!).

Just as an added thought, i really love this thread. I never thought i would get so excited when something runs out!

Lush Vanilla Dee-lite - WBA, but its too expensive I think. Had to TA because I've had it so long that the texture's gone a bit funny. Need to go and buy some more lotion today. Going to look at some of the Aveeno stuff because it's on offer in Boots.

Good afternoon ladies i joined the challenge early last year and then tesco dtd came along and everything went to pot so i quit. i have been following the threads and thought it is about time i came back in, i will not be doing a stash list as i am too lazy and i know i have way to many things. i don't need to buy anything this month as i have got enough items to last me for about 2 years but that has not stopped me before. i have got 2 beauty box's this month shesaidbeauty which i was not impressed with last month but i signed up for 6 months as i thought with it being new it would be good just hope it gets better, i also have a glossybox this month i will see what its like and maybe cancel if not very good. sorry for long post.

Somehow I've stopped thinking that having tons of make up is wonderful, and started feeling a bit embarrassed about having so much of such a frivolous thing.

Plus it does take up a ridiculous amount of space! :eek:

I still love make up - I've just realised I don't need all of it ever made!

I too have a potential eyeshadow UU. It's a free 1/4 size sample of Brownstone given to me in about 2004 at a Bobbi Brown counter, and used as part of my regular rotation ever since - 3 days a week at least. After 8 years I can finally see pan! :j

I have lots of splutterers this month, and I'll try and be disciplined and list my UUs as they come in.

This morning I've finished a couple of cleansers and a moisturiser, and I finished an eye cream last night.

That's a brilliant idea :T My total numbers are horrifying so that should stop me in my tracks! :rotfl: It's much more practical than pinning up the whole list, which was the idea that I'd got stuck on. I'm going to tuck one summary behind my bank card and put another summary on the side of my bedside table (!) I think that I need to see it everyday to reinforce the idea that I don't need anything else. I'm more likely to slip and make an online order and as I tend to use PayPal having my totals just in my purse won't stop me
