hi - can i come in as a newbiE? i did a big tidy up a last month and i am appalled at how many tubs/bottles of the same stuff i've accumulated by going for bogoffs etc without realising i already had 6 months' worth of the stuff.

i think i have everything sorted (other than sneaky checks on daughter's make up drawers when she's out) and hopefully need to buy practically nothing

the thing that freaks me out even more than the money all this stuff ties up is the space it takes up - if i can thin it down, i could actually cut my spring cleaning time!

ps to the poster with the soap mountain - when my grandma died, there was enough (very nice) soap in her house to keep us (then a family of 6) clean for 2 years - i should have learned my lesson then, shouldn't i?
  • Hi please can I join again for April - this thread is definitely working for me as since Jan I've not bought any unnecessary toiletries or make up which is fab as I think I've actually changed my thought processes on buying them :). However, I still have a stash to use up so I still feel the need to report on this :D.

Count me in my lovelies,

I'm sorry I haven't been around much, but I'm still living and breathing the challenge.

So far this year has been my lowest beauty spend in living memory.

I've started getting my hair cut and coloured at the local beauty college to save money. A root tint and cut and blow dry is £23. (but has been half price this month at £11.50. :D) I used to pay £120 odd.

We sold all our cds to Music Magpie and the resulting space and lack of clutter has made me so happy that I'm really reluctant to have any beauty ins at all.

I could definitely manage on a whole heck of a lot less than I've got.

I'm even considering thinning out my Bobbi Brown collection....

Wow Jacks that is quite a breakthrough :p (I remember your Bobbi Brown stash pics from last year, we were all very impressed, and jealous) :D

Oh, I am in again for April as well. I have some very exciting make up UU to come this month I am sure. Even an eyeshadow :eek::eek:

Thanks for the new thread hollylangman!!

  • Count me in!

I have about 10-15 Lush soap bars, two part bottles of shampoo and one full one, plenty of cleanser, one and a bit conditioner bars, 3 tubs of Lush moisturisers, 4 hair mousses, about 10 toothpastes...I know I have forgotten things! I definitely have enough to last me the month! The only thing I may let myself buy is a facial moisturiser, as the one I have is almost out. I will stretch it for as long as I can! :)

    Good luck everyone! x

Speaking of rose candles... I asked my mum if she wanted some soaps as the ones she has next to the sink in her loo remind me of the ones in our school toilets (only cheaper). She said no, the only thing she would use nice soaps for is making her clothes smell good in a drawer.

So really scabby dry skin on your hands but at least your pants smell rosey when you put them on... Lurvely!

Help please :D I'm sure I read on a previous thread about someone buying 1 litre bottles of Redken from an EBay seller, I'm interested to know if you were happy with the product and who the seller was...........

I've decided Redken is my holy grail and luckily I don't have a stockpile of Shampoo/Conditioner so I'm OK to buy! :A

I'm in again, have two last minute INS to declare from March. Avon Mosaic effects white and black top coat, good value at £5 for both of them.

So basically my only INS in March were 3 nail polishes (and some magazine freebies). I never used to have a problem with polishes but do you think one swaps one addiction for another?

Can anyone recommend a gradual tan body moisturiser which only gives a hint of colour? My skin is fairly pale.

    Thanks

I used the St Tropez everyday for the face and body and liked that more the the J & J holiday skin - that was a while ago.

I am back for April and thanks holyhangman for setting up the new thread.

This month, again, I do not "need" anything - expect for another can of dry shampoo. I will get that later in the month. Other than that I shouldn't need to spend any cash. I am anticipating a few LHJ uus including my concealor and shampoo but I have back up for both.

I have been very busy organising today and I moved my fake tans out of storage and are now in the ensuite - ready for use. I just need to overcome the thought of constantly changing my bed linen due to fake tan stains

I am also going to try some new hair styling products this month that I have in the stash to see if they are any use.

Good luck everyone and welcome to the newbies

I will be back one I update the stash list.
