not technically an April in as did put my name down in march:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Hmmmm x
UU Percy & Reed shampoo and conditioner WNBA I found the shampoo shocking, i struggled to get a decent lather with a first wash, second attempt was better but it made my hair feel so dry! The conditioner felt nice when it was on and rinsed out lovely and my hair was soft, but my hair the following morning looked so lank and greasy like it hadnt been washed for days!! Overpriced and not much cop!

I wasn't very impressed with the Percy & Reed hair treatment either. I have the smoothing serum in stash waiting to be used but am not expecting great things considering no-one has had anything positive to say about their products. Sorry that you paid full price for them.
I'm also going to try really hard not to buy any nail varnish, I have over 100 so definitely don't need any. They are without doubt my weakness, even my OH has said I should try and go a month without buying any, he even threatened to get my collection out and tally up the total cost to see if that would shame me into not buying anymore of them:eek: (Think I'd pass out if he did this :o)
    hope everyone is well

    happy pampering, xo

MrM totted up the "value" of my collection when I stupidly informed him I had 95 bottles. Then got the usual blah blah lecture about waste of money blah blah. I fell asleep at some point. :rotfl:

I'm sorry but I would never publish my list at home - this would be incriminating evidence! :rotfl::rotfl: No, hiding my stash in drawers is the best way forward I think. Seriously, though I really think that the spell of time that I had out of work when I could not easily buy any kit I liked from QVC was a turning point for me and then finding this challenge helped me enormously. I do find though that I find myself wanting to buy something at the beginning of each month. Maybe psychologically I feel I deserve it if I've been good all month?

Hello VALM! Thank you for your reply - it really made me laugh! :rotfl:It was helpful as well - I think that you're right about the beginning of the month being a 'danger point'. I'm such a newbie at this but I'm serious about reducing my buying/using what I have and want this approach to be sustainable. It's really helpful to know what the trigger points for buying might be so that I'm prepared for them! I suspect that going for long periods without any UUs is going to be the most difficult thing...:o

Any other danger points I should be watching out for?

(I joined after the Christmas/Jan sales...I expect summer sales are tricky? New season make-up all looks tempting. The Body Shop are most sneaky - sales all the time! I've done well with avoiding the big 3-for-2 promotions at Boots. What else??)

I have just ordered a BB cream from eBay. I have read the thread and like the sound of only using one layer of stuff to get everything done :) I also very much like the thought of getting DD using BB creams before she tries anything else on her skin. If she starts with good makeup habits now, her skin should be protected going into adulthood!

I'm the same with my daughter who is 13 although I have introduced her to mineral foundation rather than BB or liquid foundation. She went to a sleep over at a friend's recently and came back wearing liquid. It looked so cakey and I told her it looked unnatural. I suppose I might only win this battle whilst I'm providing spending money.

totally non beauty related but anyone else think this is THE cutest advert ever? I love it :D

Looks a little suggestive when it's on top of the blender though ! lol - am not even going near the washing machine shot!

I am definitely making progress using up my stash :) plus I have been using the bare minerals tsv and I am just not sure about the foundation so going to send it back for a refund.

    UU's
Elemis marine cream - WNBA, the cream was nice but don't know if it would be worth paying the full price.

Yay to you Tracey, I don't think I have ever managed to return a TSV.
re: Elemis PCMC - I use this all the time and have done for about 4/5 years. I have never paid the full RRP or even close to the full RRP for this. If you decide that you like it keep an eye out on QVC or timetospa for good deals.

Ooh, who are you going to see? I love live performances and for once don't have any tickets bought for forthcoming events apart from One Direction next March and I'm not counting the days for that! x

Something else that helps me is avoiding the Glitch threads on MSE. I think I do have a bit of a spoilt brat mentality sometimes and reading those posts where people have managed to buy a gazillion hand creams for £2.50 are like red rags to a bull for me as I want to get in on the action. It's only in the cold light of day when the package arrives and then gets emptied into the drawer with everything else that I realise it wasn't worth it!!

You rightly say as well "sales all the time". The same offers go around and around. I've recently starting looking at buyapowa and have quickly learnt that it's the same brands being offered over and over again.

I've had an awakening that's all and realised I've been conned into thinking I had to have a different product for this and one for that. Something I realised this weekend is that another con is the travel size. We went to Kendal for a few days so what did I do? Went to Sainsburys and bought travel sized shampoo and conditioner and took a travel sized cleanser out of my stash. Why? We drove to a place in the UK with no baggage allowances imposed and the only "hardship" would have been carrying the larger sized shampoo and conditioner to the pool with us when we went swimming once.

I enjoy reading about all the beauty boxes that you ladies receive but I know there's no point in signing up for them as I feel like I've found a lot of HG products but do like reading your posts as there are still other products that I want to try. As another lady mentioned she now feels better about saving for L'occitane items rather than impulse buying in Boots. That should be the point of beauty products is that you buy what you like rather than spending on stuff that you find ok - hence why all the reviews on here are fab too.

Getting down from soapbox now - *jump* x

Can't you put your Bobbi Brown collection where the CDs were? Clearly, I am not cured yet. The thought of TAing/streamlining Bobbi Brown cosmetics leaves me with goosebumps! :rotfl: OT - How was your experience with Music Magpie as I'm considering decluttering my music collection.

 You see, I must be at least partially cured because using the space where the cds used to live to house all my Bobbi Brown never even occurred to me! :D;)

Music Magpie were fine. You don't get much per cd but it mounts up. Bog standard compilations like NOW 67 etc tend to go for 30p each and the highest price we got for anything was £3.24

We got rid of a seven foot book case full of cds and gained just over £1000.

It took most of a weekend to scan the numbers in using my iPhone, and pack them all up. but you can also type the numbers in.

They can send you the paperwork or you can print it out yourself.

The best tip I can give is to plan what boxes you're going to use to send them in and scan cds in until the box is full then save and start a new box.

Otherwise you have to fiddle faddle a bit so the paperwork matches the cds in the box.

If you send them in 50s or more they come and collect. Otherwise you have to take them to the Post Office.

It takes about a fortnight to get your cheques, but we didn't have any rejected.

However there were some that we couldn't send because they were too old to have a barcode.

    Hope that helps VALM.

cold wet day so had(yet another!) sort out of my stash...it does not get any smaller:rotfl:put things in different boxes and put items I know I will never use into a wicker basket containing Lush boxes from Christmas 2010!I need never buy make up again looking at the stuff I have and wish bonus time bags did not always include mascara and lippy.I do eventually get through skin creams but as i don't go out everyday I don't get through make up very quickly,i used to make the effort to wear it more on holiday but then thought what the heck no one I know will see me and as i have sunglasses on all day no point using eyemake up anyway:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am quite proud of my skin though as taken care of it since I was a teenager and not too wrinkly despite being 57:rotfl:
DH away again tomorrow(twice this week:(:(:(:() so may well do a facial/bath with goodies in(from easter bunny) rambling on to take my mind off food as on a diet and hungry(cold weather?)made bread and asparagus soup to eat by the fire(who would have thought of that last week?)when DH gets home from swimming.

Mind if you have a newbie join you? I don't spend a great deal on toiletries - severe lack of funds/a 1 yr old/full time job/studying for a diploma gives me very little time to actually devote to looking after myself! A lot of my products are years old (especially the nail varnish/eyeshadow!). I sat down to make my stash list (took me 3 hours!) and not everything is on it - I still have a few 'piles' of bits I havn't listed, nor have I listed products specifically for my daughter (I still have a stockpile of those from when she was born 14 months ago!). I also found some makeup products I've never used so I'm selling on Ebay which makes me feel good. I think I'll put £1 to one side every time I use a product to save for a haircut since that's a real treat for me :)

Anyway, I've put any items I havn't ever used in blue, and I have no splutterers at the moment. Not expecting to be buying any products this month.
