Anyone Struggling To Get An Account?

Options
Go to yorkshire, I had seen other people most about it but wasnt convinced it would be so easy.

Popped in there at 12 today to open an account was out by 12.30, signed a couple of forms showed my passport. Easy as that. Really friendly staff, did try to sell me other things like savings, mortgage etc but were ok when I said not interested.

Gave me my acc number and sortcode and said that a dual function Maestro debit/Cash card will be dropping through my letter box in the next 7days.

Cheques take 4 working days to clear so a lot better than some of the other basic accounts, internet banking and telephone banking available if you want it.

All seems really good and they said they would review it again in a few months but to be honest I don't need an overdraft and never write cheques all I needed was a decent debit card and maestro fits the bill so I will probably be happy just to keep it.

By the way anyone worried about the credit check, it is not a full credit search. Just a credit bureau search which confirms your identity and address.
  • I don't have a Yorkshire bank near me ... :(
