Section 7.1.3 only applies to vehicles that qualify for a full cat emissions test. As diesels don't, a missing cat would not be a reason for rejection under that section.

Damn, how did I miss that column 2 entry?? Good job I'm not a tester and just keep up with this stuff for my own interest :rotfl:

Going back to the OP though - sooner or later you WILL get pulled with an open exhaust but never mind points or not, at least stick a piece of straight pipe in there before you gas yourself!

hot exhaust gases/hot day/underseal nice recipe for a vehicle fire, for your own safety at least get a piece of pipe to replace the missing section

As above, get a decat pipe.... Then see if it passes the MOT, if not fit a cat and then remove it again afterwards.

Also paint the underside of the van with anti-vandal paint, that'll learn the !!!!!!!s.....

get a decat pipe fitted.. a diesel does not require a cat.. its only a "smoke" test on a diesel ;)
if the exhaust is blowing then at worst its a VDRS form off the police and a dont drive till its sorted..

As others have said, the biggest issue here is all the exhaust fumes are going to end up in the cabin and make you unwell.

It's a company vehicle so none of your concern if it passes an MOT or not, get a bit of pipe welded in where the cat was and if it fails the MOT upon reaching 3 years old, that's really not your problem.

Alarm might alert OP, fair enough.... But nobody else going to take any notice of it :(

It's the "im all right jack" society we live in, everything's "not my counter".
