It's nothing like it was before though but me & DOH have spent the day going thru paperwork (some of it looooong overdueAnyway. What I'm trying to say is, if the old girl was having a nosey around at your house, then that's rude. I think that's far worse behaviour than having a messy house. Was she dragged up?
She is actually a lovely person who is also involved with the charity group I mentioned - in fact she is the driving force behind it really
I admit what she did was a bit rude but the fact I've been round to hers quite a few times and she's NEVER been in mine before coz I've always kept her on the doorstep probably p**sed her off more than a little
The main thing is though that YOU were obviously not comfortable with how it'd gotten, and when that happens, it takes a situation like this to kick us up the butt and sort it out to a reasonable standard so that we're comfortable with how it is. That's all that matters, how comfortable you and your family are with your home. This is now what I (with DOH's help) am trying to do - it's bluddy amazing how quickly it deteriorates though...
:rotfl:
) and there's loadsa stuff lying around again... but it WILL get shifted tomorrow to prevent a complete backslide... again
You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs

I was joking about her being dragged up btw
I do have friends who admit to going to coffee mornings (my worst nightmare) just for a nosey at people's houses though, I really can't understand that and think it is a bit rude.
I think housework is a constant battle. I feel like it's me against the rest of the household most of the time! Then that feeling of being on top of it and finding that it's a mess again within a few hours is gutting.
I hope you feel on top of things soon. xx0 -
Oh i have such sympathy. We have th police coming round this morning to discuss our security issues, and while i managed to clear my desk and tidy the sitting room, i cannot use the hoover this morning
. Dh did not do it this weekend (i often cannot hoover so dh usually does it at the weekend for me). I just know i will want to curl up and die, but no helping it. By nature i like things very clean, but i will not stuff things into drawers, i would rather have a mess and put things away in order in not a rush, and in a place, so on a day when dh hasn't been home for a while, things look dreadful. My friend often jokes that when my mobility is really bad she knows because everything around waist level is super clean, but there are things in messy piles on the floor that i cannot pick up and bags of stuff where i have tried to gather stuff into a place to sort without bending over or moving too far.
Also, for some reason i cannot fathom my husband seems to thing inside the FrONT door is the best place for wellies and garden tools, so the first view people get is usually not terribly good. Atm there is a garden fork, a hoe, some boots and a bag of stuff from the car to sort out, all at the foot of the stairs. I am going through the pile of post long abandoned on the hall table right now, to divide into filing piles, but cannot bend and open the filing cabinet bottom drawer....0 -
There are two bits that jumped out at me:
I'm always fascinated with other people's houses, especially if they're in my street - I love seeing how theirs is different from mine or similar.Mics_chick wrote: »
I could see her eyes roaming around the kitchen looking at everything...
Your husband sounds like a sweetheart!I'm on my own tonight coz my other half is staying with a disabled friend for a couple of days to redecorate for them before they have a special bed delivered next week.
ETA: didn't realise I'd dragged up an old thread! I'd searched for something.0
