Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm hoping someone may have had a similar situation and can give advice.
Unfortunately I became ill in 2009 and my account with Littlewoods was passed to Lowell Financial. The account is cleared, closed and showing as settled on my credit account.
A couple of weeks ago, I registered online for a new account with Littlewoods and was immediately rejected.
I wrote a letter of appeal and received a very nice call from a Littlewood's team manager who told me that the immediate reason for rejection was due to Lowell Portfolio. They had not updated Littlewoods to let them know the old account was settled and therefore I needed to get Lowell to communicate this to Littlewoods. She told me that she would delete the application and once I had assurance from Lowell Portfolio that they had confirmed settled, to re-apply and I would be accepted.
Over several weeks and having to threaten to complain about Lowell Portfolio to both the Financial Ombudsman and the Information Commissioners Office (which I did as they completely ignored any communication) Lowell finally updated my credit report with Experian and Noddle to show the account was settled.
However, I have again tried to apply online today for an account and was immediately rejected again. I can only assume that Lowell still haven't updated Shop Direct and Littlewoods that the account is settled and I don't know what else I can do to get things right.
I am disabled and receive ESA and DLA. Buying online is easier for me due to my disability. I have a JD WIlliams account but find their choice limiting and also expensive.
Has anyone been in a situation similar and can explain what they did?
I have an acknowledgement letter from the Financial Ombudsman regarding my complaint along iwith an acknowledgment letter from the ICO but they are quoting 8 weeks to investigate as they are overwhelmed with case enquiries.
I wasn't expecting a large limit due to my illness and the fact an old account was passed to Lowell. My JD Williams account has a suitable limit of £250 which I pay off every month as I do with my Visa Card.
Unfortunately... shop Direct's computer still says no. :wall:
Thanks in advance for reading and any comments.0 -
SDG can give credit to whoever they wish and theyve chosen not to give you credit.0

I fully understand that but I was only asking if anyone had experienced anything similar. Thank you for such a welcome reply!
How long has it been since you had an account with them?
As you done littlewoods over before I'd find it unlikely they would offer you another credit account.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Everyday in the time I worked there.
People demanding credit accounts when they fail the equifax credit check. How long has it been since you had an account with them?

It was 2009 when I had the account with them and no, I didn't "do them over" as you put it, the account was settled via Lowell Portfolio as my insurance policy with Littlewoods didn't cover my illness.
If you ever find yourself in that position then let's hope that you get better treated by people on the forum instead of your "judgemental" high horse opinions that really are not constructive and offer no advice to the thread itself.0 -

Regardless of the circumstances you still owed them money.
If you become ill you could have liaised with them to come to some arrangement to place a temporary hold or something similar by sending them proof of your illness etc.
As they have declined you should just accept it they are under no obligation to offer you a credit account. Whether you have a good credit history or not. I would also assume you also run into financial difficulties with other lenders which is also ore than likely hampering your application.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Not that I owe any further justification to my post but just to clarify I did liaise with the lender; infant all my lenders on a continual monthly basis and they were provided with medical files in order to make the necessary PPI claims. However, Littlewoods declined my cancer claim because it was an "existing" condition at the time I took my policy and account with them even though I was under remission.
You know very little about me, my situation and what happened.
Are you really this judgmental with your Nat West customers? I hope for their sake you are not.
Finally... as Martin Lewis himself says...
I didn't set up MSE to be personally judgemental, but to help people whatever their circumstances.
So may I caution MoneySavers to err on the side of kindness. Please use your knowledge and kindness to help rather than to berate.
If anyone has constructive feedback of a similar case whether positive outcomes or not, I'd welcome their posting. However, anyone who slanders me personally on MSE just as one previous poster who accused me "of doing over Littlewoods" will I ignore the little troll concerned.0 -

I would just accept they do not want you as a customer rather than getting yourself wound up.
They are under no obligation to lend to you as others have already stated.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
