    tried to update my classic today,could not connect the device,also,my email address and password came back as invaled,so yet another snotty email has been sent to them.im sure they are stalling,but i aint goin away.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    I to received a letter from road angel regarding lifetime subscription being cancelled i emailed and sent a letter back back my displeasure, i have just received a letter this morning saying they will continue the updates but will review it each year, but will come a time when it will finnish. They have said i can have the road angel gem for £99 with 2 years free subscription, but to pay out £99 plus in 2 years more money for something i dont need i think is realy poor.As well the offer will expire on the 10th of August 2012 ... are they trying to twist are arms somewhere alone the way to make a quick discision..?:mad:

    well I think they should offer the new gem in return for the classic and continue with the lifetime subscriptions.. as a good will

    Hi,
    I have just updated my classic , it took a few tries but it said that the update was complete , I have not tried it on a run yet !
  • Guys can I just check, has there been further correspondance from Road Angel? I have only ever received their original letter. Some people saying they had assurances from RA that the subscription will last another year and will be reviewed yearly? Or an offer for a 2 year subscription of the Gem is that right?

  • Patrick. I received a letter mentioning another years service, then review etc.
    This was received about a week ago.
  • Thanks guys, contacted them and they resent their letter. Well think thats a victory for us then, shows these big companies dont always win. Speak again in 1 years time when they try and discontinue it all again!
  • P.s. With Tom's Tom's now having speed camera function and maps, RA days are numbered anyway, so don't even think of getting the GEM - will be another waste of money as Tom Tom sales will almost certainly force RA into administration one day.

    I think RA supply the database to TomTom!

    I have a RA Compact which is nearly as old as the Classic - albeit on a monthly subscription - no hint as yet that they are planning to unsupported the Compact......I would have thought the update technologies very similar - so would suggest that the termination of the lifetime contracts is not born out of technological obsolescence but financial need/greed.
