mk88, Then are planning to introduce a second shift at jag in trim & final around 22nd oct hence the big recruitment drive so it will be 6-2.30 and 3-11 i think the 30 min gap is for swap over to empty car parks etc.

you can ask but you have to do 1 or 2 weeks of each. I know that when i started and they told us we have to start at 6.30 a woman said it would be hard for her due to buses etc..and the guys answer was "i dont want to be funny love buts is not my problem" lol. But on the other hand 1 guy was saying that his supervisor asked his team/shift if there was anyone who prefered doing afternoons permanent as there was a guy who i an existing employee wanting to do permanent morning for medical reasons. So it would be luck of the draw.

Also depends what 'block' your mates are in..if you get put in a different block your start finish times may vary slightly.

Cheers for the reply, yes these other lads will be in trim and final like myself, BTW it is Land Rover i am starting Monday not Jag, and they do 1 week mornings, 1 week evenings, then 1 on nights.

    Morning Shift
    06.00 - 13.30
    Afternnon Shift
    13.30 - 21.00
    Night Shift
    21.00 - 06.00

Thats what it looks like i will be doing as far as i am aware.
  • Bimma, I guess ill have to stop drinking so much in the morning before my shift then heh.
  • Another day another twist and turn. I was approached by manpower asking me to go to solihull 4 days after my interview last month. I batter it back as I use public transport and couldn't make 6am start. Think manpower are quite good from wjat I have heard but i was worried also about being forgotten about.

I've been on both sites recently in another capacity and can reiterate what someone said earlier, land rover can't make enough cars and its just insane.20 people a week leave there.
lot of building work going on and the size of the plant dwarfs jag. The common perception is land rovers profits fund jag, and going round jag its laid back in comparison and in relation to the build the number much smaller.

Land rover workers who go to jag never go back, never the other way round.
  • Something cynical I heard was that the big number of 1000 is required for the launch and after that will be scaled back with some going over to land rover as they are going to be building a jag there in the future.

These jobs depend on the success of the brand, you can only build what you can sell and agency are there to full in the fluctuations around volume

until you get your contact you're not safe :(

headzqillroll i have 3 mates who got moved from Jah to Land Rover and they all said its much better, they didn't say how or why apart from the extra £ but i will ask them and then come back but from what they have all said if given the chance they would not go back to Jag :s
  • Maybe they feel its more secure, I wouldn't feel worried about being laid off there, and its £14 per hr - o/t £22 similar dough

    Isn't it Jag £11.40 p/h and Land Rover £14.40 p/h ? ? ?
  • Ok this might sound like a bit of a dumb question is Solihull Land Rover then and Castle Bromwich the Jag plant? :S
