The issue I have, is during the meeting, one lad (manpower) piped up and asked, " if were working here, and building cars 5 days a week, same as everyone else, why can't we vote, and if we can't vote or have a say why are we paying the union for?" The reception he got from the guy on stage was literaly " We don't make those rules on who votes, and if u feel that way keep your opinions to yourself, alot of people have done alot of hard work for this deal" That really !!!!ed me off, It was suposed to be an open forum, but apparently that's not the case, Many of the lads from manpower were saying how they will cancel their membership. We have no say, no control, and are told to basically put up or shut up.

I didn't actually go to it. I knew it'd be a load of crap and a either like it or !!!! off situation. I just took an extended break to my lunch instead. We need, want & deserve equal pay, until that happens I won't be supporting Jag workers, they haven't supported us.

I thought the same, after today's 'performance' they have all but 1 or 2 gone right down in my estimation.

the only winners in this 'deal' are the union (they make £2.61 per week per person u do the maths), jaguar for having more flexibility with their staff and permanent jlr staff for getting pay rise. Those who are on a rolling 3 month temp contract also benefit because they will become permant as of january.

Other than that Manpower staff are temps and by temps means you are just a number hence no voting rights etc...they can get rid of you as and when they dont need you if sales drop. Ive got nothing againt the permanent staff at all and admire them for working there so long as its hard graft so they deserve it.

I didnt bother joining the union for that very reason that i knew i would be paying them them for not a lot in return... They keep emphasising how they have worked hard and 'fought hard' for us ... its all deals behind closed doors. A few of the full time lads were saying that they were disappointed with the union because the new shifts coming in means that they will finish at 11.30 pm at night. This would cause problems for those travelling by bus as some late services dont run after a certain time. They wanted it negotiated to 11pm finish but looks like that didnt happen either...

The guys in my block are sound, and still seemed annoyed about how agency staff were being treated. I will swiftly be cancelling my membership before weeks end, for the main part about how they spoke to the one agency guy. If they have no loyalty to me, i have no loyalty to them. There was talk of strike action at the meeting. I tell you now, i would never ever go on strike, for the simple fact the union havn't fought for anything for the manpower staff other than a !!!!ing pay cut for new starters. The problem is, nobody will speak, for the simple fact they will lose their job, were only an agency temp. However through the wonders that is the internet and anonymity we can speak our minds.

Cheers for updates punk. I for one have never been a fan of unions.
