  • Please can someone help me.

I am driving through France soon in a 13 year old Peugeot which is virtually worthless. What I don't understand is if I get comprehensive breakdown cover (about a hundred quid with RAC I think) and we breakdown, although it may be possible to fix the car it would probably cost more than the car is worth, so would I still be entitled to the hire car that should be provided or do I have to pay to get the car fixed? Who decides? I don't want to spend a thousand pounds on getting a £100 car fixed.

Kwik Fit Euro cover has now gone up to £99 - they said the £58 it's been at for months was probably "a mistake" GRRRRR

Quoteline Direct still seem to offer the £59 deal for UK and European cover quotelinedirect. co.uk/breakdown - service is now provided by ERS.

Dont know why this isnt still the best buy on MSE as the comprehensive cover including Europe seems very reasonable especially for cars older than 5 years old. And they wont autorenew which is good (coming up for renewal now they have sent us several emails and have left phone messages asking if we will be renewing)

We have been with them for around 5 years for our 10 year old Renault Scenic - have only had to call them once for puncture; service fine

Why on earth would you risk going abroad in a £100 banger.

Has anyone used AXA breakdown insurance? We are currently with Asda and pay £70 but its up for renewal and AXA are quoting £44 for the same that we have now (home, uk recovery)

    Any help appreciated
  • People who are with AutoAid and have called them out - what sort of recovery costs have you had to pay upfront?

If you pay by credit card and send the claim in straight away you will be reimbursed long before the bill has to be paid. They pay up within a couple of weeks.
  • Hi,

Looking for ideas on best policy options.

I have own car. Wife has own car. Both are ~8yrs old.
Do we have to get a separate policy each? Or is there a better way to reduce costs?

    Many thanks.

One autoaid policy will cover you both (and both your cars)
