Can anyone recommend a good breakdown cover please? We are looking to cover 3 cars at the same address. One is a classic car so quite old.
We are with the RAC at the moment but are cancelling due to high costs, terrible customer service and an unacceptably long wait on the motorway to be rescued.
Does anyone have any good experiences from other breakdown firms? Thank you.0 -

Bought this last January having been with GEM for some time. The GEM renewal had risen substantially and Autoaid seeme extremely good value.
It was put to the test last month when I broke down 30 miles from home in my classic car, a 1980 Mk2 Escort RS2000. I was in a traffic jam and it eventually overheated. After contacting Autoaid, a breakdown vehicle appeared within 40 mins and loaded the car to take me home. No hassle whatsoever, in fact I received a call from Autoaid whilst I was waiting for the breakdown vehicle to tell me that they were paying the cost directly. Fantastic service so I'm renewing again for the £41 premium. Would highly recommend this value for money service - insurers you and your wife, not the vehicle so you can be travelling in any car and be fully covered - complete peace of mind especially if you own a classic!0 -
Insured with AutoAid last year on your recommendation. Unfortunatley had to call them when my car broke down just before Christmas. I was a long way from home, but fortunately not too far from the home of a friend who was travelling with me. He was able to provide the call centre with precise details of our whereabouts, but the recovery driver was given incorrect information, being told we were somewhere quite different. If we hadn't given them a contact number he'd never have found us. Furthermore, the recovery driver was definitley "dodgy", offering to drop my car (with as yet undiagnosed problems) at his mate's garage down the road, where I'd get a couple of hundred quid scrap value for it, instead of him towing me back home, which he did, grudgingly, but would not drop my friend off on the way. He had to make separate arrangemets to get home. Not impressed! Will not be renewing AutoAid.:mad:0

Been with AutoAid for several years, but only just had cause to use them. Very happy indeed. Recovery vehicle turned up within half an hour. Very competent, efficient and friendly driver. Delivered vehicle to garage of my choice. Only downside is that AutoAid would not cover cost of transporting us back home so we were stranded at the garage! MSE website should make it clear that AutoAid only deliver to ONE destination. Therefore, if they take your car to the garage, then it's up to you to get yourselves home from there. Otherwise highly recommended - especially at that price.0

Slightly suspicious that 4 posts over the last 2 pages, all saying how great AutoAid are, are all from first time posters. company employees? the only recent comment about them from a regular member of this forum is negative. hmmm.0
