Oh, ok! I received a load of plastic bag type envelopes for the items to be returned in. Guess I can ignore this then?! Thank you :)

I think you are referring to the smart return envelopes? If so just keep them handy you will need them soon.

Hi, I have tons of the SMART return envelopes, these new ones are the size of a Large envelope (roughly A4 size) and are plastic. There are also sticky labels which I'm supposed to put on the received mail, write my ID on and send back to RI. Has anybody else had this?

I've been accepted onto the latest unaddressed mail survey.

Does this literally mean that I take note of, and count up all the junk mail that comes each day? And look out for the ones in the pictures?

Yes it does. But note on to the leaflets what day they arrived and hang onto them for at least a week - I've had pictures appear for leaflets a week or so after they actually arrived.

Yes I've just arrived home from work to find all these sticky labels and plastic bags. So do we have to send everything that comes through the door unaddressed back. What if they are from local takeaways and we want to keep them. Also what about the local newspaper?

    1. Upon receiving an Unaddressed Mail item, please apply the sticky label we have provided with these guidelines on each item you receive. Please then write your panellist id and the date you have received this item on the label.

    8. It is very important that you keep all your Unaddressed mail items, enter items as normal during the week, then on the Monday the following week please return it back to us in envelope provided. Please do not forget to apply the sticky label on the item (with your panellist id and week on with the item was received) before returning them to us.

I've done unaddressed mail surveys a couple of times before, and am doing one at the moment that started on Monday. I have never been asked to return anything, or been sent any envelopes to do it with.
And if you look on the pop-up guidance page, that also just talks about recording items, not sending them back.
Might be worth phoning or emailing them for clarification?

Once you have logged an item it can be disposed of...so no need to worry....the only things that now get returned are smarts and you only send those back when asked to.

Thought the unaddressed mail items need to be returned on a weekly basis in the envelopes they send ... or have I misunderstood?

When I have done them in the past it had just been binned. This could be a little bit of checking up to make sure we have received the items and are just not marking we have had them. Such as people who have opted out of receiving the junk but still do the survey. Or a random way of making sure we are completing the survey correctly?
