    Delivery = £1.45 minimum :(

If you spend a minimum of £35 delivery is free.
Order by 5pm today, stamps guaranteed to be with you by lunchtime tomorrow.

I was just thinking about it and the cheapest way to cover the new recorded fee at 95p would not be buying up large letter stamps before the price rise to cover it and some 5p stamps.
    For 1x 1st LL (now 77p, changing to 90p) + 5p the total cost at today's price would be 77p + 5p = 83p (a saving of 12p by buying up stocks now).
Instead 2x 2nd (now 36p, changing to 50p) would cover the 95p charge with 5p overpayment but the total cost at today's price would be 72p (saving 23p by buying now before the price rise). That's a 24% saving and for someone regularly using the service it could really make a difference.

It seems to me that 2nd class stamps are worth focusing on for stocking up as they are going up the most with the least outlay on your cash as well.

    46p 1st class normal = 30% rise
    36p 2nd class normal = 38.8%
    75p 1st Large = 20%
    58p 2nd Large = 19%.

I had my Ocado delivery tonight, it was all there and went very smoothly. Cannot find the original thread anywhere :(
RM stamps haven't arrived yet, guess they must be swamped.
  • i think its just me being dim but wanted to ask before i stock up.

Is it better to use 2nd class normal stamps or 2nd class large letter stamps to send my packets? It works out the same price right? so doesnt matter. Sorry had to ask

2nd class normal stamps are the best as they are only 36p that will be worth 50p soon, so you are getting a near 39% rise on your money.

2nd class large letter stamps currently cost 58p and going to 69p a rise of 19% I think on your money.

So if you bought your 2nd class large stamps now at 58p each it will be cosing you £1.74 and after april 30th you they could be used to send a packet at £2.07

If you used 2nd class normal stamps to send that £2.07 it would cost you £0.36 * 4 + 7p , costing you £1.51 compared to the large of £1.74 so better value.

I just used a random number and did the maths quick but think its right and proves the point.

I am waiting on a 2nd batch arriving from the Royal Mail shop they are taking days and days with no sign of them coming because they have not emailed me anything or when I check the site I see no delievery info.

The 1st batch came within a couple of days so I wonder if they are deliberately going slow about it because its to their advantage.

Why is it to their advantage?
They can't charge you at the new rate as you have ordered well in advance of the change.

They are very probably snowed under, if that is the reason I think it's very bad that they have not emailed customers or updated their web site to say that there are delays.

Anyone who ordered online could you tell me how they come. I ordered £41 pounds worth so will then come by special delivery?
  • I went to my local newsagents today to buy a few books of second class and they were charging the increased price already. I thought the prices were not going up until the end of the month? I left without any stamps. Think I'll try the PO instead.

Well if I wanted to order some more the time is ticking, I'd rather get the current orders out of the way before I snow them under with more orders. Also there has been talk of caps etc.
