My partner and I have to separate because we simply cannot afford to live together I work full time she is unemployed I pay all bills and look after her 2 children also my own 2 children we don't get any help at all just my wage which is clearly not enough to live on is there anything we can do other than this drastic move thanks

I don't believe this I'm afraid. If you earn a low wage you will get tax credits to boost your wages.

You say you don't get any help at all but you should be getting at least child benefit?

How old are the kids? Can your OH not get a pt job?

Visit the debt free wannabe page and post an SOA, people will be able to suggest how you can save money and cut back.
This would be advisable to effectively comming fraud.

If you live together then all the money should be joint... How are you looking after 4 children and working full time? What does your partner who doesn't work do?

    Can't afford to live together.

You can't afford to support him but you could afford to live together if he contributed to the household!

I think the comment in Pearl123's post "lol can't afford to live together" was more reffering to the the OP's original post and how it was funny that they claim they can't afford to live together, not that she was commenting on her own situation.

Are all the children living with you? You should at least be getting child benefit then - plus if your income is that low that you can't manage on it then child/working tax credits. Is she looking for part time work? Is she pursuing her children's father for maintenance through CSA?

If you are living together with 2 children as a family, then you should have a combined income of wages and benefits of more than £310 a week.

Try the turn2us benefits calculator to see what you are entitled to.

Again, can she not get part time work?
