What do you receive that it matters what time in the day it arrives?

Normal post, but if I'm out at work for the day, sometimes I may need a letter for that day and either miss it cos it comes later or because I go earlier. Some letters are time sensitive in that a certain number of days are given to respond and with delivery being any day between 2 and 7, it doesn't help. Plus i've noticed more letters get lost.

    Because of the way I work, I send/receive around 5 letters a day ....

so how do you see that happening?
everyone gets their mail by 9am?
some delivery staff won't even have started work by that time
again,I recall all the people who couldnt see the issue with delivery staff starting later and later
now all they do is malign the post coming later.....

as I said.the rises kick in with Dsa.RMs income has plumeted from it

DSA = Downstream Access, I assume..?

I did notice that the prices of stamps started to rise massively the more mail I got sent from companies through the likes of UKMail and TNT Post. e-Billing can't have helped much either, totally removing post from the system.

ebilling means a loss of revenue
DSA mail can actually cost more than its pays

Is it absolutely guaranteed that stamps bearing the 1st or 2nd marking bought now at today's prices will be accepted in, say 3 or 5 years time (if enough are bought now), without the recipient of a letter bearing the stamp being asked to fork out the difference on delivery?

I have asked the PO this very question, but still awaiting a reply, however I have just bought a couple hundred quid of stamps, 2nd mainly, since these represent best value.

Don't forget the price of large letter stamps are increasing as well so I have bought some of these as well. Hopefully, we should be able to use a combination of 2nd, Large 2nd, 1st, Large 1st class stamps to make up the majority of the cost on larger packages if need be.
Since I posted I used the 'Ask Sarah' facility and got THIS so answer would appear to be YES you can use them.

Having letter boxes as a standard box at a standard position on a gate post or in the hall of flats (the way they do in USA and France) could save a quid of two?

I can see the removal of the lower weight bands for packets will hurt sellers of the 1p books which are too thick to go though the slot.
