Tesco does it again

I have been noticing that Tesco pricing is rather dubious at the best of times. The way they use 2 for 1, BOGOFF etc to hide sometimes very substantial price rises.
Having said that the British public are not daft and Tesco's last set of results were pretty grim.
Around here we are fairly limited but I for one have voted with my feet for most things.
The real problem is that Joe Public is actually rather stupid and quintessentially lazy and where trust and slothfulness breeds opportunity for the potential thief, Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys et al all jump aboard, pretending to offer their assistance in lightening your load whilst their real objective is merely to lighten your wallet.0 -
Things have changed in our house recently (ie I now do the grocery shop) and moved most of the grocery shop to Lidl (a lot more successfull than I thought possible). However, I fell off the wagon last week with the promise of £5 off your next shop from Tesco arghh.... :wall:0

I read that even if there's a strike, it will happen next week at the earliest. So surely a bit early to be panic buying fuel (and jerry cans for an extra 30 mile boost)? it's that bloomin daily mail again, isn't it?
(that said, I only have 100 miles left in the tank, so should think about filling up)0 -

I'd like to see it cripple the country frankly but only if the strike was about fuel prices which it isn't.
This strike has been politically engineered to ensure prices go up higher.0 -
Its called supply and demand
Devil's advocate here - when the price of Whitney Houston CD's went up after her death that was profiteering. This is supply and demand then....
It's perfectly legal and of course, a huge company like Tesco could do with a few more quid  but is it in keeping with every little helps? Is it simply making a bad situation worse and looking to cash in on a Easter weekend? I'd say yes and it does Tesco no favours really.

I beg to differ, I reckon 80% of the population are f**king idiots. I'm not talking about qualifications or education either. These do not make you intelligent and do not mean you have any common sense, they simply mean you know how to memorise a text book.
The country is ripe for the picking, it's full of stupid people with more money than common sense and the supermarkets are cashing in.
I don't know why they call it common sense, when really it's a rare gift.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Maybe they're trying to discourage people from buying them to reduce the impact of panic buying? That'd be pretty public spirited of them
eta: more to the point, they could be trying to reduce the chance of panic buying at their fuel stations. Go for shopping, plan to pick up a couple of cans and fill while you're there, see the price and change your mind. Empty some other station's tanks later.0 -

Fair enough and I'd like to see you deported. Perhaps Kazakhstan or Ruanda.0 -

An interesting view of education. One of the things that has happened over the last 40 years is a move away from only memorising information to pass public exams.0
