Just in my opinion Cardew, nothing really to get your g-string in a twist over. You don't like opinions other than your own, do you? Hmmmm? ;-)

Every single post you make on this thread is designed, by your own admission, to have some fun winding people up.

Your posts lack any form of logic or rational thought; as your last contribution demonstrates!

If you are suggesting that all 30,000 are criminally deceptive, then yes, but in my opinion they certainly won't be. No, the new rules mention the Big 6 explicitly, so it seems clear to me who they're aimed at.
lmao, is that how you interpreted what I said....
the legislation is targeted at energy sales people, since UW have more than all the rest put together, then it stands to reason they will be more effected by this change in the rules.

Pro-rata they probably have no more or less bad apples than any other energy company.

It really is not relevant if UW salesmen are any more, or any less, dishonest than other Utility salesmen.

The new regulations affect the way all salesmen will sell their products.

With UW surely the salient facts are:

That UW have extremely expensive gas and electricity.

That UW have an extremely complex tariff structure

That UW, knowing their gas and electricity prices are not competitive, largely sell their product in an extremely complex package combining gas and electricity with Broadband, Telephone, and a large spend on the cashcard(which in itself is complex enough) and discounts for referrals of other customers.

That UW will now be forced to give their customers a written estimate of their gas and electricity spend, and this will clearly show customers how much extra UW charge for their gas and electricity.

I am sure there will be a training film soon to show UW Ids how to overcome these difficulties. Just how the written estimate should be worded.
  • I didn't misinterpret anything. I understood everything pefectly, even the bit where you incorrectly used 'effected' instead of 'affected'. :-)
lol, you really do like the wind up :rotfl:
hard to argue about the choice of word there, I did originally use affected but upon reflection used effected because the changes would have a causal effect.

I wouldn't argue if you changed it to affected

When consulted about the proposed retail market remedies in relation to providing detailed price comparisons and quotations at the point of sale , T Plus made this response.

Will be interesting to see how the regulator and the comparison sites respond to this comment
they have structured their sites in such a way as to ensure that the suppliers which generate the highest commissions are presented in the most favourable way
especially since he didn't make clear whether he was talking about sites which use an approved comparison tool

It does sound like a more polished version of a certain poster on this thread. Talk about toeing the company line....

IMO you members of the AUWF are letting your anti-UW bias cloud your judgment here (what's new?? :p). This Ofgem ruling will definitely affect the Big 6 far more than it will UW imo. UW is a deal that needs explaining, it's not just a straight 'here's the price, are you interested' type proposition. Of course, I'm unusual in the sense I did my own calculations, number-crunched and when my calculator revealed that i would be paying less with UW for my gas/electric/phone/BB/calls etc than I would with any other company I rang the company direct and signed up that way. Never spoke to/was approached by a salesman ever.

I've lived at my house for over 25 years and in all that time I've had many many visits from door[STRIKE] liars [/STRIKE]knockers employed by the Big 6. Loads of them. Not once have I had a knock on my door from a UW rep. I'm not saying there aren't UW distributors who door knock but there can't be that many when you consider they arguably, efectively, have the biggest salesforce in the industry and I haven't had one knock on my door in over 25 years.

The UW deal is all about explaining what the punter CAN pay if they fit the criteria for the various incentives/discounts available. The 3 people I have referred have all taken the cashback card because they already fitted the criteria for using it to its maximum effect and, like me, getting the cheapest deal in the marketplace, the fantastic CS and monthly paper billing/paying for exact useage etc is just a (albeit very welcome) bonus for them (as it is for me). These referrees all knew that the 'basic' UW price for gas and electric can be beaten in the marketplace (especially with the seemingly never-ending launches of new online tariffs) but they, like me, were only interested in what they would actually be paying UW each month net. They each saw my bills and the NET price i was paying and were immediately interested. This, I supsect, is what is happening up and down the country all the time.

If you are suggesting that all 30,000 are criminally deceptive.....

Listen to their training audio for reps where they are taught to print off the uw calculator for their gullible victims address and show it to them to "prove" the savings they are going to make before deciding on whether this suggestion is true or not!

(This amazing calculator shows me I can save £880 (excluding membership fee!) if I join and have a card, or £630 if I decline the card!). They are told to take the print out to their friend and he can't argue you won't save him any money! (Ethical +++ or maybe just an out and out con????)
