I disagree. Quentin has tried telling us how bad UW is and I think it's fair that a recommendation is given. Stating that one should look at available comparison sites is not a recommendation of a specific best company experienced by this member.

How incredibly revealing about Quentin's personality that he repeatedly refuses to answer when asked for an energy company recommendation. This is the Gas & Electric forum where people with knowledge are supposed to share that knowledge. The fact he only gets involved in this forum to continue his increasingly desparate rantings against what in essence is a remarkably small player in the industry energy and never offers any useful, knowledgeable posts to those on here who would benefit is just pathetic. The fact that he's 'protected' on this thread by the two bullying trolls Hugh Jeego and Sad Singleton just re-inforces what is going on here.


Quentin, you frequently advise people NOT to use UW so, come on, force yourself into some positivity for once in your life and recommend these people a suitable alternative.

This thread is about the merits and demerits of UW. Martin in his wisdom decided it this would be the best way to stop the spamming of loads of threads.

If Quentin makes any mention of any other utility company – let alone a recommendation – this thread will be full of posts critical of that company; a diversionary tactic.

There are scores of threads highly critical of all the ‘big 6’ and that is where that criticism should stay.

If criticism is made of UW, this thread provides a platform to refute any points if they are untrue. Giving examples of where any of the big 6 are just as bad, or worse, is simply not relevant.

As this is a Money Saving Forum, the major issue is surely that UW simply does not compete on price with tariffs that are available from the other Utility companies.

Why not assume that Quentin gets his Utilities from one of the Big 6 and address the issue of UW being more expensive?

PS Talking of diversionary tactics, anyone notice how Hugh Jeego/Cardew quickly resumed his Which report rant when the launch of the cashback card was mentioned on here? I still don't think he's told the group what he ACTUALLY thinks about that one. Probably because he can't think of anything negative about it. That bloke is a legend in his own back bedroom...

Strange. You'd think regular posters would understand it is meaningless to recommend 'an energy company'. If one knows the useage of a particular customer then a tariff may be recommended but it is a nonsense to globally recommend one company.

I have posted accurate information about uw whenever your reps have posted inaccurate (though favourable to uw) information to ensure anyone reading the many innacurate, misleading and downright lying posts that have been made by uw reps across this board does have the opportunity to see the accurate picture.

On every occasion I have shown them, with links and direct quotes whenever possible.

One rep (hougtimo) recently was so upset to learn that the guarantee was not as he had been lead to believe it was as a result of the uw misleading him, (making him in turn mislead others, (presumably many of whom would be his family and friends), as well as post incorrect, misleading and false information on uw on the Board), that he resolved to leave the uw if what I had told him turned out to be true (subsequently other reps posted to confirm I was correct)

Do you think such promotional lies (which if used in a printed advertisement would get uw another ASA adjudication against them) should be allowed to be posted on a moneysaving website?

Any reasonable reader (not necessarily one of the full blown gullibles that do join up for some discount - then never get any) could be forgiven for falling for that claim!

You keep repeating a post wanting me to recommend a company for you, but that is irrelevant as has already been pointed out.

Our personal exchanges are now ended, as I cannot see any point in you just repeating the same post personally aimed at me.

Nonsense, people choose energy companies for a myriad of different reasons and not just price (I'm sure there will be people using Ebico with leccy consumption on a par with mine so paying waaayyy over the odds but like the 'ethos' of the company, for instance). Quentin has clearly put himself up as a bit of an expert as to what NOT to look for in an energy company so it's hardly a huge leap to suggest he knows WHAT to look for in an energy company and us non-experts are waiting with bated breath....:rolleyes:

This thread tends to suggest Quentin does as I do and switches regularly for cashback purpose so (if true) I'm sure he has ample knowledge of ALL the Big 6 to give an opinion. Incidentally, that thread I've linked to is worth a read to make you realise Cardew and Quentin make very strange bedfellows on here. They have a real humdinger of an argument on it which eventually leads to Quentin reporting Cardew to the Abuse team! :eek::rotfl:
