1. If being an ID is so good why is anyone working for the company? And not as an ID? Something no one has ever answered but there must be a reason?
2. When you sign their con-tract or application forms you are signing for all your family and don’t get all the con-tract details until after.
3. If you used their services you are deemed to have entered into con-tract with them.
4. They appear to use the one bill against you in disputes.
5. All ID’s should have business accounts as they work from home but this is ignored by UWDC and they use free calls for domestic customers to contact other customers read their terms and conditions and they state that you cannot use domestic service for business total contradiction and an insult to other small sole trader businesses.
6. Some of the small print to be wary of. “we own your mobile telephone number you don’t? Huh?
7. If you don’t send us your sim card back we charge you 10.00 for the privilege of keeping the useless thing.
8. Try to charge you if you don’t tell them you are changing.
9. Leaked email proves they discriminate against tenants and people who do not own their own home. Illegal and breach of their supply licence. ID’s told not to gather certain types of customers.
10. Why have they only got 300,000 customers yet have pages of complaints?
11. Why is customer retention so low?

Actually, anyone gullible enough to be taken in by the uw's expensive energy and wanting to sign up with them can at least make one saving by cutting out the middleman and joining via one of these switching sites instead.
The uw do pay switching sites a commission for sending them gullibles, and in turn some switching site share this with the customer (instead of a rep getting the commission).
For some reason, although uw does get business via the switching sites, their reps are in denial about this - but turkeys don't vote for Christmas either.
So if you believe UWDC pay a commission to the switching sites, prove it. I know first hand that they don't and never have. Neither do they pay for national advertising campaigns. Cardew will agree here because he remembers that the French and Saunders are not on the the telly every night advertising UWDC.
While at it lets see a link to your UWDC beating cashback card you still haven't proved yet put forward as an argument.
You tell people to go to a switching site to cut out the middleman. The switching sites are the middlemen. They are designed to get people to switch and get paid a commission in doing so. They claim to be independent but clearly are not. A middleman they most clearly are.
It must be a late night again quentin and you are putting up posts that haven't been clearly thought out.
If you believe they are so expensive then you should take up Carmines challenge. A number of times he has put up his usage and how much he pays yet you still have not beaten it.Quentin's Cashback Card?

Not certain what 'adverse dislike' means? Sounds like a double negative;)
Adverse can also mean harmful.Personally I don't like UW because of the misrepresentation on here and other sites and their Modus operandi.
I personally still cannot see where exactly you feel they are in the wrong. Then again I am involved I guess because of being a Customer and Distributor for a long time, but that means I know exactly how the company operates in detail. I would not do it if I didn't believe it were not ethically run. You must agree that I am going to be in a position to better understand the workings of the business than mere hearsay evidence. In order to be a judge you should at least try the services first to better evaluate it.However, turning to the Guardian article, and leaving aside the salesmen's renumeration(which are of little interest to money savers), what is inaccurate in his article?
I guess then you don't have a problem with someone earning money from recommending a friend to a service that is good. The inaccuracies have been mentioned before. The source of the inaccuracies is due in part because the reporter has used this site and the controversial hearsay evidence put forward as true. The most important is the lack of mention of the many discounts that UWDC customers get. As we all know but some choose to ignore when people take the package of services the combined bill is very good. Carmine will agree here. I don't understand why you choose to ignore this.
Utility Warehouse Discount Club long term Customer and chose to become Distributor because found them to be very good.Quentin's Cashback Card?

Stop beating around the bush you said "I read through the guardian article and found way too many untruths" so come on name them. What were the untruths?
What are the discounts he does not mention, can you be more specific please?0 -
I can't be bothered to reply to JohnJames post because as always it is so full of inconsistencies, misunderstandings and mere errors that it takes ages to go through and double check with UWDC. He has been disproved so many times before that I feel I don't have the time but as before can safely be ignored and just put down to his personal vendetta.
All I can say is that I have worked consistently at UWDC for many years and it has worked for me because I have made it work for me. You get out of it what you put in. It's not like a JOB where some people seem to think they should get paid just for turning up to work and putting in half effort most of the time unless the boss is watching.
My customers who are mainly friends and from recommendations are happy because they have someone local to help them and as a result I get lots of referrals. It's taken effort but I get rewarded for my efforts and I have no problem with that. JohnJames clearly wasn't successful at it but I think that by virtue of his posts its clear that it had a lot more to do with him being responsible for problems than UWDC. If there is a problem I take responsibility and fix it instead of passing the problem onto someone else.
I have had my fair share of problems since a number of family members and friends have died and also a flooding caused me to become homeless for a few weeks and made it difficult to continue in a JOB. At the time I thought what have I done to deserve this and didn't expect to be in that position after working hard for others and being highly qualified in a number of disciplines, yet I have still kept on getting paid by UW. If I didn't have the income from UWDC then I really would still be in dire straights. So as you can see I really don't have a problem with earning money from it and think a lot of it. In an uncertain world UWDC have certainly been a help. I still get one or two people saying, you aren't still doing that UWDC thing are you. I just laugh and say to them, 'when I needed help at least they were there for me unlike you even though I helped you many times before.'
Going through that episode has taught me to be good at valuing peoples true colours and motives. Most people don't have enough strength to sort out their own life let alone be in a position to help someone else do it.
Anyway I got to work tomorrow and its late. Places to go and people to see. People to greet, and something to eat. Got to go and see a man about a dog.Quentin's Cashback Card?

This thread is now 450 pages long, and has been done to death already. All the points have been raised before and been answered and then raised again and again. I have listed many of the discounts before as have many others for instance carmine, I suggest you read through the thread because sadly the reporter has used it as the basis for his hearsay article but not looked far enough.
I thought news papers were supposed to provide news. Sadly news does not sell papers any more because people just want controversy. You won't get controversy from me so there isn't much point in asking for it. If I became a news reporter for the guardian none of my articles would get published because they would contain just news with no controversy, it wouldn't sell papers. I think every workplace has a gossip that spends all day spreading rumours and does no real work of any intrinsic value. Gossips always think that everyone else should be interested in gossip as well. They always start by saying something like.
'Have you heard about......'
The most important part of the JOB description for being news reporter in modern United Kingdom apparently is - being a gossip.
'When I am at work in a JOB I get stuck in and always try to be there for others. Sometimes people copy me and the work gets easier as a result. However, I don't expect to get valued for my true worth by the boss who is more interested simply on what I can do to make his or her life easier. I might get a golden handshake and a watch or clock after my 35 year stint in the same company if I am lucky. I might even get a company pension if the directors don't use it first and the company doesn't go bust and I am lucky to get a permanent JOB. Anyway, at least there is the state pension to fall back on for a few years before I finally pop my clogs...'

LOL. This coming from an internet random who spent his first couple of months on this site desparately telling us how minted/successful he is, even going so far as to list his exotic-sounding holiday itinerary :rotfl:. Seriously, who cares what you think? I certainly don't.
I actually totally agree with your last sentence, though. I'm just surprised it's taken you so long to come to that conclusion - I haven't accepted a word of what you claim since the very beginning. I do recall you once giving me advice regarding an alternative satellite supplier that was actually illegal. Smart. Not.
PS There are plenty of examples of the deals I have taken advantage of with my UW card in this thread, the latest being only a page or so back. Feel free to have a look at them and try and beat the deal. But you remind me very much of the poster you seem to wade into this thread to try and save all the time when he digs himself into a hole - all hot air and bluster and useless when it comes to actually backing up your claims. Laurel and Hardy, as I call you.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
So if you believe UWDC pay a commission to the switching sites, prove it. I know first hand that they don't and never have.
It's for you to "prove", not me. The UW doesn't make this claim, it only comes from their reps, who are clearly fed a line about this issue. (When dealing with their 30000 salesmen, UW for some reason doesn't want them to know that their customers can actually sign up direct and cut out the rep's commission for signing them up)
The switching websites are paid a commision by the supplier in return for them providing customers.
This is stated on their websites.
eg. this is from the Which? switching site:Which? has agreements in place with suppliers and receives an administration fee for each new contract switched to via its switching service. The fee covers the administration to enable you to switch directly.
(Which? switches gullibles to UW - though they would have to be really persistent, and ignore the 75 or so other tariffs listed ahead of UW!)
Of course it could be that when vinny claims that UW have "never" paid out to a comparison site for a switch he means no-one ever actually has done a switch of their own freewill via a switching site!0 -

I am beginning to the get the impression you cant name the many untruths you claimed are in the guardian article because they dont exist.Come on name them !!!
He mentioned the inclusive calls to landlines, the cashback card, the one bill, the customer referral discount, the £100 cashback what other important money saving benefits did he miss out ?0 -
