Why on earth would I give you, of all people, details of my cashcards in order that you can divert the discussion away from UW's high prices.

I have previously stated that UW's cashcard is excellent - and certainly of greater value than those I use; albeit mine are available for all purchases not in those stores that accept UW's card.

However I would see little point in paying over £800 a year more for my gas and electricity to UW to get their cashcard. To save this I would need to spend well over £16,000 in shops that accept the UW card. That is not counting the much more modest savings I make on the many cards I use!!!

Nice try carepress - but again you are a loser!

By the way what do you think about moneysupermarket.com closing that thread?

:rotfl:Hilarious. But very sad at the same time. Why would the cashback cards you 'use' be a state secret? Frightened of being asked for details of something you clearly know nothing about??

Get me a better deal than I have outlined many many times (most recently a few posts ago) and I may upgrade my rating of your moneysaving expert credentials (the rating is currently very very very low!). Go on, Rupert, it's late Saturday night, where's your usual late night bravado gone?

    Name them then.

Seems like a very balanced article article to me.

These have been discussed at great length within this thread. I have covered them many times before. So have many others. Seems you wish to ignore them as did the reporter in the popular press article. Since he has used this thread to get so called expert advise from UWDC dis-tractors who even call themselves the Anti UW Faction. However, I already pointed out one, choosing to ignore the many discounts and benefits that The Utility Warehouse Discount Club provide. The online energy switching companies don't list them but include any discounts for other companies in their annual price comparison that will change within a few months anyway. Just because the other companies cannot provide the many discounts that UWDC provide and UWDC will not pay a commission to the online swapping companies doesn't mean the discounts don't exist.

A case in point Carmine has chosen to utilise the many discounts that UWDC provide and as a result within just a few months pays far less overall than he would with other companies. He is not tied in and could move at any time, if he so wished. If that is the case with Carmine, then it is the same for many other customers as well. This disproves the false argument that Utility Warehouse are expensive.

Simply, the reason the article is unbalanced is that it chooses to ignore the discounts provided by UWDC. A report about Utility Warehouse Discount Club that chooses to ignore the discounts. The reporter has obviously got his information from the wrong places and not spent enough time preparing. The reason that the article is so unbalanced is that the reporter will get a fat bonus for digging up a story. Not really a news item. Not the first time a reporter needs a story. The Directors involved within UWDC are some of the most respected directors of any large company. UWDC has won many awards, not just with The Which. Maybe he should listen to them. They have carved a very successful career and achieved many things.

Sorry for not taking too much time to go through everything but I and many others have wasted time discussing it all before. I am a busy man.

Utility Warehouse Discount Club Customer and then chose to become Distributor.

Now that I know more about how the discount scheme works in detail post your annual expenditure on the card with a list of items purchased, & the number of & amounts credited to the card. Copies of receipts would show this beyond doubt.

Only then can we see if you are genuine or just playing a game disguised as a customer and not a salesman for UW.

There is very little pricing info on the UW website. To get the true cost of everything you have to ring up.

Untrue statement therefore by definition an untruth. All the prices are on the site. And anyone loading up the pre-payment card with their credit card is clearly an idiot. I see the pre-payment as an alternative to using my debit card at the places that are on the '5% list'. If you use it as i do and at the places I do, it's absolutely unbeatable. I would imagine the vast majority of households who use Sainsburys for their shopping and petrol needs would benefit from using Utility Warehouse for their utilities. This is not exactly a 'niche' retailer, it's the 3rd biggest supermarket in the Uk with a turnover of many billions. It has many millions of regular customers.

PS I see Rupert has gone very quiet after my 'tell me the cashback cards you have used' and 'get me a better deal' challenges. The kindest substance I could say he's full of is hot air.

Some of my customers have more spend on their Cashback Card than Carmines. It's not unreasonable what he has stated.

    That is extremely disingenuous.
Instead, they offer the UW tariffs on their sites for no financial gain whatsoever.

UW on the other hand pay perpetual/residual commission to the salespeople who sign up people to their expensive energy products instead.

Your customers aren't posting on the site challenging people to find a better deal. I did at the beginning think Carmine was genuine however my opinion of him has changed. I will now accept nothing he says at face value.

They chose not to include any of the discounts that UWDC offer their customers. If they were sincere they would include them automatically even though UWDC will not pay a commission to a site just to get listed. I am sure that if UWDC were to pay a commission to the online energy swapping sites they would suddenly include the discounts and the league positioning would appear differently.

UWDC pay a residual commission to customers who have become distributors who recommend to people they know services that they use themselves and trust. Surely that money is better going back into the pockets of thousands of average people making an extra income on top of their normal day job instead of a faceless advertising company designed simply to get people to keep swapping company regularly in order to make large commissions from the energy companies. People have swapped a number of times and now realise that the savings advertised on the online energy swapping sites are not as straight forward as they would first appear just looking at the headline rate.

I guess you have chosen to ignore the many unique discounts and benefits that UWDC provide. I have chosen not to ignore them and that's why I became a customer. It took me a while before I trusted them enough to but to be honest with you, I fail to see anything wrong with how UWDC operate in fact I see many great innovations, improvements, better customer support and keen pricing. It gets better every year. You may have a differing opinion but I am not trying to convert you, I wouldn't waste my time. It's your choice after all. You must admit however, my long term involvement in UWDC and the training means I am in a position to know a lot more about it than yourself and how it operates within the market place. I tend to find that Quentin and Cardew seem to have an adverse dislike for UWDC for some reason, but you seem to have a more open mind.

Utility Warehouse Discount Club Customer who liked the company that much he became a Distributor. I even bought the T-Shirt. It's not perfect but anything designed by man never is.

Not certain what 'adverse dislike' means? Sounds like a double negative;)

Personally I don't like UW because of the misrepresentation on here and other sites and their Modus operandi.

However, turning to the Guardian article, and leaving aside the salesmen's renumeration(which are of little interest to money savers), what is inaccurate in his article?

    Be specific - inaccuracies.

Actually, anyone gullible enough to be taken in by the uw's expensive energy and wanting to sign up with them can at least make one saving by cutting out the middleman and joining via one of these switching sites instead.

The uw do pay switching sites a commission for sending them gullibles, and in turn some switching site share this with the customer (instead of a rep getting the commission).

For some reason, although uw does get business via the switching sites, their reps are in denial about this - but turkeys don't vote for Christmas either.
