Which? will certainly be very interested to see how a company like UW breaks their rules and uses their magazine like they do here to promote their company.

UW is well aware of the Which? rules.

Over at the uw reps forum they are advised on how to reprint the latest article which highlights how expensive their tariffs are in such a way that when prospective customers are shown the reprint they won't notice the bit about the expensive tariffs.

And they warn reps that they are not allowed to print multiple copies as that breaks the Which rules too!

If what you say is true then personally, I believe the UW ID should have his distributorship cancelled.


However, equally the use of the words buy and sell could have been misinterpreted. As I do not even aware of such a comment, I therfore cannot comment on the interpretation.

Yes you can. You can even have just one service. There is no stipulation except one. Without at least one service there is no point in having a cashback card.

As regards the networker site, the security was incorporated as this thread, and others occasionally, were being frequently linked back to it with video links etc. and then used to "attack" selective aspects in the videos with regard to UW. The straw was, and still is, when selective quotes were taken from the site and reproduced here to make various allegations against individual posters.

I had no problem with the video links etc. as these could be found elsewhere on the net in the majority of cases, so were in the public domain, so to speak. I was less pleased when quotes, often out of context, were posted on here to undermine individuals. I am all for freedom of expression and postings, but the persistent use of these quotes to attack / undermine individuals, is really pushing the boundaries for me given the expected levels of respect that should be shown to others using the forum.

As a consequence of this, the site security was improved to try and reduce the opportunity for this type of activity. We all like to have a vent about something from time to time and it would be nice to feel that you can have different personae for different roles without having to resort to having different "identities" to avoid this type of cross-posting.

I also appreciate that things do get a bit heated on here from time to time and I wince at some of the things that are posted. I am sure that these types of things would not be said face to face with another individual and the fact that we can all hide behind the anonimity of the internet shouldn't be a reason why common courtesy shouldn't be followed.

PS As a (bad) joke, I signed up to the "new" site using a well recognised name from here and posted a challenge to some figures that were quoted. I was subsequently permanently banned from the "new" site. I must be the black sheep in the family. :rolleyes:

Can I remind Jimexbox that it was I that instigated the increased level of security because it was Quentin who was misusing the NW plus site for his own purposes. It seems from recent by him / her that even this level of security it has been broken. As such I have asked the site owner once more to look into it.

Which? may find the scales fall from their eyes regarding answering how well UW always get rated for "value for money".

It has been commented on before in the past - how come the uw tariffs being so expensive its "customers" vote it high on value for money?

Well, as there is one uw rep for every 9 customers, and the reps are all encouraged to sign up their friends and relatives, maybe they will now see how the 45 to 90 forms they get back all say everything is great including the prices!

Incidentally, Quentin what username do you use at the networker plus site. I use keggs as I do here. In fact I rarely change simply because to do so I would constantly have to keep tabs as to which one I was using. My memory isn't as good as it once was.

I also sign with my proper name. I don't hide anything. I'm pretty open as a person. get's me into trouble because I talk straight which by the way has stood me in good stead recently as someone deliberately sought me out and signed up as an ID under me.

The reason: because I'm not sycophantic and if I feel the UW hasn't helped us in some way or I feel let down (even f it isn't actually true) I will say so.

However, to extrapolate that any shortcomings I feel UW have at any one particular time to saying that I am unhappy is a complete fabrication. It's also insulting to me personally; it's also a deliberate misinterpretation of something I said on another forum which as you are not an ID of the UW have no right to access.

I did suggest to Jez that IDs should also have to identify themselves with their registered ID number. Hopefully that will solve the Quentin problem.

Thatis of course that he isn't a disgruntled ID who has decided to use his former UW knowledge to try and damage the company and anyone associated with it.

If he isn't then that begs the question - why do it? Altruism? I think not.

Though flattered to be mentioned like this in despatches, in fact there are constant warnings to the reps on that site that it is not secret, and they should be careful what they post as it gets used by uw bashing websites (and not just MSE, which, true, keggs does campaign against, naming Martin Edwards as being "He strikes me as someone who thinks he knows it all but in fact knows nothing.", as well as more personal abusive name calling at Martin, and stating "I really hate the MSE site" - doesn't stop you using these forums to put across your "very happy" frame of mind for our benefit, though does it!

Keggs gets singled out for criticism for his negative posts by his colleagues who have told him: "the "security" login feature was added because posts on this forum were appearing on UW bashing forums. What I say and do has nothing to do with either you or anyone else here. So kindly stop using me as some sort of battering ram. It gives me a headache to strt with .
