Thanks for that, Penrhyn. Would it be worth my while setting up the router directly into the master socket and see what figures come up? I am using very long extension wiring at the moment. BTW, when I claimed the speed is rock solid it really is freakishly so.

That's what I would do, just to confirm you don't have one of these master sockets?

When you meet with potential new customer do you compare their existing provider,s tariffs with yours to see if you can actually save them money .

Yes I do.But I do not work anything out. I signed an UW/Ofgem document ensuring I do not miss sell. Some IDs may work out savings but I prefer to let the company do it for them. Originally we sent copies of bills in to HO. That's not done anymore which personally I wish we were still allowed to. The present system leaves me a little unsettled because I genuinely want to work out a calculation and compare but the company insist that this can be construed as miss selling.

This won't satisfy you know who but that's the way it is supposed to wok and I for one am not going to fall foul just to satisfy people like Cardew et al or potential custmers who are rate tarts.

My original comment was about patman's post.

You had no reason to respond! Yet you couldn't resist jumping in and making a fool of youself.

Despite being given every opportunity to extricate yourself from the mess ,you carried on making a fool of yourself.

If you don't know why you should be embarrassed, these are some of the comments you made whilst attempting to show I was wrong and you correct.

Yes I did jump in - something I do do if I perceive persecution. In this case I was wrong. But I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Happy now or do you wish to continue keggs bashing just to prove how macho you are

I know this was directed at Keggs but the answer from my perspective is, yes, I do. If I can save them money I tell them. If I can't save them money, I tell them.

Up to now, ALL my customers are saving money compared with their previous suppliers. Some have the cashback card, some don't. This includes business customers.

    Maz,

Let me give you an example of the double standards and attitudes on this thread.

Six months ago I mistakenly stated that French and Saunders advertised on TV. Within 2 hours I had apologised and retracted that statement.

Since then I have been repeatedly accused of deliberately lying - quoting that example. Several UW IDs, and even Keggs felt compelled to jump on the bandwaggon with that jibe.

Now Keggs posts provocative and insulting posts time and time again. He intervenes in discussions with the most puerile of remarks and generally acts as a lapdog for Carmine.

Twice this week he has felt compelled to enter a discussion about which he very clearly is clueless. If he restricted his remarks to his version of facts, it wouldn't be so bad - even when they are very clearly wrong. However he cannot resist interspersing his remarks with insults.

You ask what is the 'big deal'. Do you not think is disgraceful that someone who has sold UW products for many years doesn't even realise the most basic of facts about electricity tariffs?

Yet he, and apparently every other UW salesman doesn't see it as any cause for concern. What's the big deal.

When Quentin posts showing how UW salesmen are taught not to get involved with discussions on UW prices - Keggs is the first to condemn that as a lie.

Isn't there some UW directive about 'untrained salesmen' not allowed to sell to the public. Yet here we have Keggs admitting that he knows nothing about energy prices(after demonstrating that fact very clearly) You can add Internet phones to his list.

All he saw was somebody who posted absolute garbage about UW's electricity tariff, so felt thanks was in order.

When that post was challenged - in he jumps - insults blazing.

Cardew, do you not find that sometimes people have a 'knee jerk' reaction when they feel thay are being attacked? We are not all the same and cannot all have considered responses. I tend to be 'knee jerk' myself.

I'm sure that Keggs acts with integrity and if he doesn't have an immediate answer to a customers' query, he will find out the correct answer to their situation and advise accordingly. That's what our executive services are for, to advise the best options even if they are to the detriment of the company.

Carmine is getting a good deal for his particular circumstances - what's to say other people can't do this too? I do and so do all of my customers.

It may not suit you and it may not suit everybody but it does suit a lot of people. We don't claim to be the cheapest provider but we have many other benefits that can be very beneficial to many people.

Don't take the heated discussion personally. UW offer an alternative and it suits some, it doesn't suit others. Not worth getting your knackers in a twist over!

Are you too small minded not to make your aggressive and arrogant comments to me instead of involving someone else.

    Really Cardew.

As for being Carmine's lapdog. I am no one's lapdog. I have admitted in this case and in another matter that I was wrong. However, you seem to want to continue this charade to what end?

I freely admit that at times I am not completely up to speed. It isn't my main job. I am not a paid salesman. Like all IDs it is a side line. If we mkae mistakes we admit to it. You rarely do I believe.

If I have insulted anyone it is generally as a reposte for the insidious behaviour of those who seek to do one thing - denigrate a company that in my eyes and in many others is doing something right, even if you and the rest of the AUWF don't think so.

Now, if you wish to continue this 'I told you so routine' then I am happy to argue back. But in the end it will be you and not I who will begin to look the fool.

As for not knowing about energy prices this is incorrect. What I didn't know was that people could not be on economy 7 and the general tariff at the same. A genuine mistake. But you milk it for all it's worth. Typical behaviour of an arrogant individual.

This is all stags clashing horns.

The upshot is that UW is great for some but not for everyone.

We should all get over this.

It doesn't suit Cardew, Quentin, Jimexbox or mech (sorry if I've left anyone out) but it DOES suit a LOT of other people.

Now, sorry to take the heat out of the argument that you've all enjoyed for quite a considerable length of time but allow people the right to make their own minds up, just the way you have.

If it doesn't comply with your opnion, accept that. And also accept that not everyone will agree with you!

To be fair to PlushChris, at least he's had a go at getting a better deal but none of the other detractors appear interested. That's fine by me, but every time they claim UW is 'expensive' I will just have to post my deal to demonstrate it *can* be the very cheapest (including, amazingly, fixed price deals that were introuduced over 4 years ago). I and no-one else on the pro-UW side have ever claimed UW is for everybody, it isn't, but for some it is an absolute no-brainer. maybe the members of the AUWF would get more respect if they at least conceded this (tiny!) point? To not do so makes you look very biased/hiding an agenda. Oh well....
