  • I joined utility warehouse under my dad originally for gas, electric and a simcard as he conviced me that it would be the cheapest in my area. Later I found out that they didnt supply those utilities in my area so I cancelled with them. I kept the sim card just so my dad could reach his customer targets, the sim card cost me £10 and I thought that would be it but I keep getting charged £2.50 a month for having an account with them. I have since cancelled the account and direct debit but they have still been billing me and demanded the sim card back or they will charge me the full amount whatever that is ... Even though I orignally paid £10?

I haven't really heard anyone say much that is good about this company apart from the people who are trying to convince people to take their serve so that they can make a profit.

    Thanks dad!

Hope you get it sorted soon. I'm afraid new UW reps usually target their friends and family first, more trusting you see and they might believe the UW worthless triple guarantee.

The only surprise is that he didn't try and turn you into a rep.

by the way, whilst you're thinking about how you can squirm your way out of your recent faux pas, what relevance does this have. UW ID's don't get a better deal from the company and pay the same price as Club Members??

The faux pas you refer to came as a result of a post here by another uw rep who told us he did get discount from his bill because he was a rep.

When I repeated this, another rep pointed out it was not true, and I replied that I "stood corrected".

The fault for this lies firmly with the original uw rep who posted the misleading info! (Though I should have known better than to take it as being correct!)

    The misleading post (in full):

Another discount I get is by being a distributor. I get money back off my own bill because I am my own customer. That reduces the bill down a further 4% on average across all the services. Thats another 'discount' I get that you can't get elsewhere. That money back discount is based on my bill before taking the cashback money is taken off as well.

Carmine will pop up soon accusing him/her of being a 'sock puppet'. The usual tactic to try and discredit anyone who has had a bad experience with UW.

Carmine may not be quite what he appears.

On the uw reps forum, when discussing MSE and this thread as long ago as May, "Carmine" was referred to by keggs as "doing" the replies for the reps, and the others urged not to get involved!

Ive always had my thoughts on 'independent' carmine. Obviously I didn't express them here because it would be pure supposition. Maybe there is really more than meets the eye with my old buddy carmine after all.....

You had a lucky escape, about 200 quids worth.
  • £200 joining fee put me off, my dad managed to join all his customers but hasn't made any money from them... I have just called utility warehouse now to find out why they were still charging me for the cancelled sim... They told me they have had my cancellation but have been charging me by mistake... I wonder how many people are having these same problems with this company.
