The combined package is cheaper over the long term for gas, electricity, phone, broadband. The discounts are not just short term like with other companies because TP can afford to keep them at that level and still make profit because the company is more efficiently run.

    1) You claim the uw is "cheaper". The combined package must have a low energy contribution, as uw energy is expensive.

    2) The uw doesn't give "discounts" (excluding the credit for using the separate convoluted risky prepay card, which you discuss separately) ! It is misleading to say it does. In fact on top of its charges it adds a monthly membership fee!

You fail to mention you also have a vested interest in being a customer - your pref rates for being a rep!

    vinnyph,

Shouldn't you declare that you are a UW salesman - and very well connected in the company - knowing Charles personally.

Just in case any new reader thinks you have no axe to grind.!!

I answered a post directly from Jimexbox. Directly in regards to what he stated.

If I am to declare that I am a UW distributor then is it not fair that you state that you are a person with a vile hatred for UW.

Am I not right to state that you grind your Anti UW axe every day Cardew. People are deaf from hearing it grind.

If you don't like it that I get cheaper as a UW customer then its a problem you have. Who are you to tell me otherwise. Being a self proclaimed expert does not give you the right to tell me or anyone else to leave UW.

You agree to the rules when you join the club.

The previous behaviour of uw reps posing here as "satisfied customers" lead to special rules for uw reps:
However due to past experiences some strict rules

    i. All Telecom Plus Distributers must declare it when they post

    But you know that!!

You are talking your normal uninformed nonsense again Quentin.

Are you trying to get me to swap elsewhere Quentin? Who exactly are you to tell me to do that, an expert. You cannot even provide a link to your UW beating cashback card that you have stated so many times.

You should state you have a vile hatred for UW so that people don't get confused by what you say. You should state that you have an intent to get people to swap away from UW.

This response is totally out of context.

I posted that your uw promoting post is misleading. (And that you break site rules by not declaring your interest as a uw rep).

I have made no attempt to get you to change, merely pointed out the misleading nature of the post in the interests of truth, and for the benefit of anyone reading it and wrongly assuming it is an unbiased report.

Vinny, just to be clear are you claiming that energy supplied by UW is actually cheaper than those offered by the evil big 6 so despised by 'independent' carmine? If you are, can supply any independently verifiable evidence? I thought that energy offered by UW is substantially more expensive, and the only way to negate this huge premium is too offset your hard earned discount against it?

My point being that if you offset your discount against say UW BB/phone package, any surplus will be credited back to you account, so if your spend on the card is sufficiently large enough you would make a profit. Then choose a cheap online tariff which is in my view considerably cheaper than anything on offer from UW. That is unless every switching site are conspiring together to make UW look expensive....

Would you not consider this an unbeatable money saving combination?

I will state Quentin that attempting to discredit UW by any means you see fit and attempting to get people to swap away is actually an offence. You clearly have a dislike for UW. You clearly go out of your way to discredit UW. You try to get people to swap away. You try to damage the reputation of UW and also distributors. Yet if I answer someone directly as to the reasons I stay as a customer you do not like that. I have done nothing wrong. It's clear I am a distributor.

Its a persons choice as to who they want to go with. Who are you to expect to tell them what to do.

For instance you tell people there is a cashback card that beats UW but fail to provide any link or evidence. You clearly clutch at straws in every attempt but fail.

Remember that vinnyph is a uw rep. His post claiming that:

should be viewed with that in mind!

He really should substantiate such a claim, as were it made unsubstantiated in an advert it would surely lead to ASA concern.

He just brings down further disrepute on the uw by using these forums for such an obvious piece of spam advertising.

    Carmine,

If one were to follow your twisted logic, then Martin and his staff should reveal every detail of spending, investments, mortgages etc before offering any advice.

No poster on MSE would be entitled to comment or offer advice on any subject without a similar full disclosure.

Any advice/comment offered by any poster should be assessed on the merits of that post.

Your modus operandi is to divert any discussion away from the failings of UW by making personal attacks on any opponent.

    Sad indeed.

So, I'm assuming if you took your theory to its extreme, you would be happy to accept foreign policy advice from Hitler without question? Medical care of the elderly advice from Harold Shipman? It's a nonsense and you know it is. Would you take advice from a financial advisor who was bankrupt? Would you allow a hairdresser who had a ridiculous mullet to cut your hair? George Best to give you advice on cutting down the booze? Investment advice from Nick Leeson? Bernard Madoff? Sir Fred Goodwin? Poilitical advice from Gordon Brown?

It's clear from the very tiny personal info you give us here that you are simply not qualified to give financial advice. So why should people take it seriously when you don't appear to confident enough in what you are advising others to do to actually do it yourself?

As a cash back pre-paid card user myself (hence i have knowledge in this area), why not ask Quentin for details of the cashback card he's been banging on about for months so at least you can ASSESS if it's good for you? Go on, I dare you. Failure to do so would confirm that you also believe it doesn't exist or there is some huge flaw that would be uncovered as soon as the link is provided. Go on, ask him. If there's 5% (at least) cash back available on your retail spend and no stipulation as to whose utilities you use (so you can stay where you are), surely NOT looking at the details would leave you wide open (yet again) to charges of gross hypocrisy. Why would you ignore the chance to save hundreds of pounds each year? Makes no sense whatsoever...
    Call me Carmine....
