I believe that was a joke to deflect from stating where he actually shops

You know all about deflection mate.;)

Please try and be polite to fellow MSE members today. Trying to intimidate and belittle posters does you and your cause a serious disservice, and to be honest smacks of a feeble mind. Cheers mate.

I would suggest defection would be the subject you actually know summat about. Certainly more than utilities.

    Usage figures? :p

Exactly, that's why Ive posted relevant question about UW. You are a self confessed expert on such matters and you refuse to help me.

    Right Guys,

I've been busy this morning and would appreciate some help/suggestions.
I have dug out all my old UW bills and have (i think!) got my gas and electric figures for the past year. My gas figure is 169kw and my electric is 2513kw. I have entered these figures on Uswitch and the top deal is with BG saving me around 115.00 per year, around 9.00 per month - not a great saving!

Now obviously this isn't taking into account my cashback card. I have recently gotten cards for both my parents to use as they shop/fuel at Sainbugs every week. I spend approx 50.00 on shopping and 40.00 on fuel a week. My Mum and Dad spend approx 110.00 on shopping and 60.00 on fuel a week. So total spend using my card in Sainsbugs of approx 1040.00 per month. I am also going to buy a TV for my younger Brother which will cost approx 129.00 (obviously this isn't an every month expense!) Plus i do quite abit of shopping at Xmas using my card.

Now is there anyway i can get my bill reasonably cheaper with another company? If i could get significant savings i would change company, no hesiatation (would never use Npower though - v bad experience!) It would have to be more than a couple of quid a month though, as i do like how i pay for my gas and elctric (monthly-for my useage only).

If there is anything i have missed off, please ask and i will try to add more information.

    Thanks
    Janninew

Your gas figure seems a bit low, are you sure you are not quoting units?
169 units is around 5221Kwh, which is still pretty low.

Do you like having just one bill and paying just one DD? If you do can anyone help out by suggesting another company that can offer this.

169 units is around 5221Kwh, which is still pretty low which would cost £191.87 with Equigas.

A dummy postcode would help people as electricity prices vary area by area.

BTW you are currently using N-Power all be it indirectly.

Sorry i'm not sure! I have used the same method for working out my gas and electric figures! I looked at my reading for this time last year and looked at my readings for this month worked out how much my meter has gone up!! Sorry if thats hard to understand, not sure how else to describe! I am very careful with my gas though, never put the heating on in the morning (except weekends) and i work quite long hours. I am the kind of person that thinks if your cold, put a jumper on!!

It would be my preference to have just one monthly bill where i can submit my readings and pay just for my usage. However if i can save a large amount of money, i would be willing to compromise!!

You have the same approach as I do, if only I could convince my daughter!

The electricity meter reads directly in Kilowatt hours, however gas meters either readin hundreds of cubic feet, or cubic metres, this will be marked on the meter.
The gas company will then convert this to kilo watt hours for billing.

    To work it out:-
    • Multiply your units used by 2.83 to give you the number of cubic metres of gas used. (If you have a new meter measured in cubic metres you do not need to do this).
    • Multiply by the temperature and pressure figure (1.02264).
    • Multiply by colorific value (39.25)
    • Divide by 3.6 to get the number of kilowatt hours (kWh)
That gum you like is coming back in style.
