I don't know why the company get such a bad press on here for customer service, I've always been really impressed with how they deal with problems. Calls answered quickly by a person I can understand, and e-mails responded to in the first 24 hours at the most! I'm a happy customer, but then perhaps i've just been lucky!
To be fair, most of the posters on here who give them a 'bad press' have never been customers . Like I said before, very early days for me as a customer but first impressions are very favourable indeed. They remind me of how companies used to be many years ago - a more personal approach to things.Call me Carmine....

UW does not get "such a bad press" on this thread for customer service.
You get people complaining of course, but you get this for every Utility Company, Bank, phone company etc.
The detractors in this thread object to the misleading advertising and sales tactics of the company; and in particular the posters with a very strong vested interest in promoting the company.
By any measure UW sell some of the most expensive gas and Electricity in UK.0 -

It's all about what you are prepared to do to get it much cheaper, though. For instance, you 'gambled' on committing yourself to BG for 5 years on the premise/belief that, overall, you would be getting a better deal. Correct? It would appear to have paid off for you and I'm genuinely happy for you. At the time the deal you were signed up to definitely was also charging some of the highest gas and elctric prices on the market (more than their standard rate, for instance). What I'm prepared to do to get my gas/electric/phone/bb/calls from UW cheaper than any other supplier in the marketplace could be classed as far less risky. It's in no way a gamble because I'm not tied-in to the gas and electric deal (I can be off at 28 days notice) and my only 'liability/gamble' is £50 if I leave the phone/BB within 12 months (compare this with your 18 month min contract BT 'gamble'). Hardly something that's going to keep me awake at nights.Call me Carmine....

To be fair - not your strongest suit;) - until you very recently became a customer you have been effusive in your praise for UW; with apparently some 700+ posts in this thread before becoming a customer(no doubt some after you became a shareholder)
It seems that you feel justified in being the leading proponent of UW without being a customer, but imply that the contributions of any opponent who is not a customer are worthless.
It is ironic that you are the arch-critic of every other Utility company.0 -

How many posts have you made in this thread, Cardew?Any idea? And you have never been or ever wanted to be a customer. It works both ways.
PS I believe you are a shareholder in Centrica and have in the past started threads on previously discredited Fixed Deals. I can't recall me ever being so silly as to suggest you did so because you are a shareholder.Call me Carmine....

I am a very minor shareholder in a number of ‘European’ Utility companies – who are all in competition with each other.
Indeed anyone in a private pension scheme, or has holdings in a fund, will probably be in the same position.
The point in my last post was that you have totally lacked objectivity in your fierce defence of UW, whilst you were not a customer; yet disqualify any criticism of that company on the grounds that those critics have never been a customer.0 -

And it could also be said you have lacked objectivity in your equally fierce attacks on the company and have even started threads on BG products when the general consensus was that the product in question was a no-no. Like I say, it works both ways. You also state you have had good service/speed/no loss of BB speed during peak times from BT when the general consensus from users on the net on review sites etc would suggest you've been very lucky. Have I ever suggested you make these claims beacuse you are a shareholder?Don't think so.
I'm assuming you've now changed your theory as to why I am on here - up to very recently your theory suggested I was on here as there are posters on here I take delight in p*ssing off . Today's theory would appear to be I'm here because I'm a shareholder?
PS You haven't answered my question with regard to how many posts you have made on here.
PS vinnyph, I'm sure even Cardew now feels slightly embarrassed about his 'anti UW faction' post, hence the change of stance to detractor. I will be charitable and excuse it on account of it being posted late at night, lol.Call me Carmine....

It appears that your dislike of UW is based around your assumption that their Gas and Electricity prices are expensive. In the past you have said they have the most expensive in the country. The fact that you are now saying that UW have merely some of the most expensive in the country, does that mean you are starting to warm towards UW.
Firstly I am not aware that I have ever said that UW have the ‘most expensive’ gas and electricity in UK. Perhaps you can point me to a post where I made such a statement? Carmine might help as he is an acknowledged expert at researching a poster’s history.
I have been at pains to state ‘amongst’ the most expensive gas and electricity in UK – or words to that effect. If you go to any of the comparison websites UW are usually in 50+ position out of 60 or so tariffs. The tariffs that are more expensive are usually ‘green’ tariffs.
However the main dislike of the ‘UW detractors or anti UW faction’(no apology for either term) is not the very high prices UW charge for gas and electricity. It is the spamming and disreputable sales tactics of many of the UW reps who post on MSE and attempt to fool readers that their prices are cheap.
If it were not for the 'anti-UW faction' posting facts about UW’s high prices, the less well informed might actually believe that UW’s discredited TVG had any substance.0 -

So you base your assumption on the prices quoted on the price comparison sites. So your whole fear of UW is based around what the price comparison sites give as prices for UW gas and electricity only.Quentin's Cashback Card?
