    mike hi.

experience chap. both as a distributor for 'uw' for c2 years AND as salesman for both powergen and our friend british gas. industry knowledge that they seem to have forgot to tell you and you forgot to research ? ie- standard high churn rates [ was c15% mark but sure lot higher now]. why do utility companies spend SOOO very much on advertising ? to try desperately to encourage loyalty: british gas was the last company in the utility market to have that and they have completely and expensively blown it !

    Hi chinup

Got it now, the industry churn rate is very high in the G & E market, and, obviously, UW wouldn't be an exception. I believe (been led to believe?) that the UW churn rate across the board is significantly lower than the norm when looking at the overall portfolio of services, or am I just being naive?

hi mike. i'm sorry i'd have to say that both landline AND mobile services are included in the utility marketplace: they are of course utilities, and that yes i'm afraid naive. why would a MLM company of all business/business models give you any negative news ie FACTS ?!
    regards

I see they continue to mislead people by not bothering to alter their site to reflect BT,s price changes on the 1/8/2007.

My brother-in-law has just signed up as a distributor (against my advice) and is trying to flog these services to me.
Now, I am a sceptical person and things that seem to good to be true usually are. Can someone provide me with some concrete information about why I shoud/shouldn't transfer my gas and electricity to them?

I saved nearly £200 a year by switching my gas and electricity from UW to Scottish Power

That is NOT worth having everything in one bill, I would rather have two bills and £200 towards a holiday

The broadband connections is very patchy and slow for me, and whenever you change anything on your package it incurs another 12 month contract.
  • is it me or do we sense their future-uw- is pretty finite? too small, and not good enough, to survive in what is a big boys market ?

Having lurked here for quite some time, I felt I have to come to the defence of the Utility Warehouse. And yes I have a vested interest, along with the many thousands of fellow customers and distributors.

The few ex distributors here may have a grievance but I think the truth is probably nearer to "I didn't do anything anyway, it didn't work etc." Like so many who join this type of business they expect massive results the day after they join. It doesn't work like that and it never will. No business does and your fooling yourself if that's what you thought.

The UWDC does offer tremendous service to its members but like anyone else in business they don't always get it right. But at least it's one company that listens to its business partners.

The UWDC will be here for a very long time I can assure you all. Many here may be antagonistic towards the company but despite any problems it might have (what company or individual doesn't) it is growing in strength all the time. The naysayers here will not have the last laugh - that I can assure you. You fail to grasp what the company is about. If most here are just concerned about getting the cheapest on everything and constantly switch to do so, then the UWDC is better off without you - you're just trouble. And as a business person in another field besides T+ I meet a lot like you.

    Regards
    Steve

Errr...yes I guess that's what most people want so if that includes switching supplier why are 'we' in trouble?? This is exactly why people will be wary of UW and having been an ex-distributor I am now being honest on this!! Their future is limited and without doubt they will be taken over somewhere down the line....

Hi, i think steve meant your trouble as in customers whom switch every two minutes to keep up with the best rates,UW dont want you and probably every other energy company out there either.UW will last no doubt about it.
Im not active at the moment and havent been for a couple of years now due to other biz commitments but i can tell you i have loads of customers that have been with us now for over 7 years and are very happy indeed with what they get.UW must be doin something right..

Hmmm, I don't think one should be so sure as the management have given verbal assurances that the Distributors will be "looked after". Having said that, nPower will have the right to buy a LOT of shares. To be on the safe side, I have started with another network marketing company in a completely different line that pays much more for the referred custom.
