Read this thread, and you will learn all about this outfit.
The way you have been approached by a "friend" is the way they do business (in fact we have seen they are encouraged to spend hours writing lists of everyone they can think of they know to try and sell to, and are also encouraged to ask their friends to help them out with a problem at work, when really they just want to present to them and sign them up for their utilities).

Don't sign anything at the meeting, and prior to it check your energy useage at a comparison site and see how much more expensive it will be if you join the UW. Ask why this is at the meeting!
But beware - in this video the gullible spanish teachers get little opportunity to say much, and end up signing up for everything, then next day are signed up as part of the reps "pyramid"! (Take care when using that word, they seem to get lots of training on how to knock back anyone who dares to use that word!)

Hi All,
The approach sounds a bit like pyramid selling about which we have misgivings!
Thanks!
It isn't. The companmy is in FTSE 250 alonsgide many, many well known British plcs.
Ignore Quentin. He has an agenda of his own. Make your own mind up - don't take advice from anyone inclusing UW distributors.
In any event who do you trust more - a friend or someone you can't see and has his own personal agenda who also incidenatally libels people on this site but won't apologise for his disgraceful behaviour.
I'd trust your friend. At least you can go back to him or her if you don't like what UW offers you.0 -
I'd trust your friend.
Keggs, you are a uw rep who has promoted a scheme (to your colleague uw reps) to get contacts by carefully choosing where you park your car.
You park between two cars then leave your card on these cars thanking them for not parking too closely to your car and inviting them to PTO and see how they can save money!
Why would anyone trust a friend (or a friend of a friend) prepared to deceive like this?
And what about the deception we see uw reps urged to do on their friends to get them to sign up under the guise of helping them out over a problem at work.
At least hop-heinz now has the opportunity to find out for himself, which was denied to the gullible spanish teachers in the videos by your ex policeman colleague, the great gary!0 -
I have no intention of corresponding with - you are just full of your own importance and not worth reading. When are you going to apologise to Nigewick for your libeloous behaviour.0

I didn't know plusnet did phone line rental but apparently they do? BTW, how complicated is their site? Anyone brave enough to get me a price for phone line rental/broadband/anytime calls and international option price from plusnet? I gave up after 10 minutes.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -

£33.50 a month with plusnet for the 'equivalent' deal I will be getting within my UW package for £19.99. 18 month min contract (ouch!). NO inclusive 0845/0870. £162 per year more. This is where the UW savings are to be made, isn't it? They appear to advertise a free router but unfortunately then charge you £6.99 to post it to you, lol.Call me Carmine....

Hi All,
We have been approached by a new friend of ours that we are missing a trick in not getting our utilities from UW. He is keen to show us what we are missing but we would like advice. We currently use Eon for gas and electricity, plusnet for phone/broadband and pay as we go for mobiles. We would appreciate advice on how to approach the meeting we have coming up!
The approach sounds a bit like pyramid selling about which we have misgivings!
Thanks!
UW are obviously careful to stay on the right side of the law (although you will note that their salesmen/'distributors' are independent so UW can say the company is not directly responsible for some of their dodgy tactics). However, a key part of their business model is that you pay to become a 'distributor' and are encouraged to make that money back by recruiting others - that to me is clearly pyramid selling.
Good luck!!0 -

I'm genuinely surprised the company haven't got involved when/if they see posts like this. You are effectively accusing a major plc of indulging in illegal practices. Not being a lawyer, I'm not sure being stupid is a valid defence, either.Call me Carmine....
