Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

Carmine's point appears to be, that you have not proven that Asda is cheaper for what he buys. The same as nobody has been able to find a better deal for his utilities requirements. As I've said before, there are very few "average" people. We are all different and have different likes, dislikes and requirements. My point is, that Utility Warehouse can fit the requirements of may people.
Unless you or carmine can find independent data to refute what the Grocer survey indicates, that Asda is cheaper than Sainsburys. I will still have to conclude that Asda is cheaper for everyday foods that most normal people eat.
Its carmine who has a extremely specific challenge, I simply pointed out that Adsa is cheaper for food, which largely negates the 5% UW card discount which is trumpeted so loudly.0 -
Although technically I did find a much cheaper package it wasn't a fair reply from me since it involved illegal theft of service.
@ NigeWick, carmines utilities are cheaper elsewhere on numerous tariffs.
@jimexbox for most people you are correct, however, you are making a general statement about what carmine purchases.
The "challenge", at root, imho is unfair because not enough information is given.0 -
OK getting rid of Sky.
Data from Energyhelpline, UW website and Talk Talk using a York postcode. UW standard user tariff.
Utility Warehouse
Gas 15000/Electricity4000 Annual Cost £ 1174
Telephone and Broadband (40Gb) £239.88
Total Cost £1413.88.
British Gas Websaver 3 Annual Cost £995
Talk Talk Broadband and phone essentials(40Gb)
Up to 8mbps (don't think your line can handle any more)
Monthly £17.74 (inc Line rental) Annual £212.88
Total Cost £ 1207.88
Saving £ 206.
If you get 5% discount on the UW cash card you'll have to spend around £4120 to break even, more and you are in profit.
Probably not many bells and whistles on the phone service, TT will lock you in to both services. There CS seems to have improved a bit lately.
Do I get my prize now? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Unless carmine wishes to employ an independent organisation to purchase a months supply of his food at Asda and Sainsburys and publish the results online. Im afraid we have to make assumptions of the 'average' person.0 -

Nope, not yet.Isn't there at least £6 per month to add to that talktalk figure you quote? (actually £11.25 if we simply must compare like for like, lol).
Edit: Your fuel figures are out as well. It should be £1140 UW, £975 BG.
Comparing like for like I get it to £1323 for BG/talktalk and £1380 for UW. £57 difference or approx £1500 annually spent on the UW cashback card (if we include card-associated costs). £30 a week.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -

BG are currently advertising that their websaver3 tariff is 'The Cheapest online Dual Fuel Tariff'. I believe it would cost you £14 more than the Eon tariff you are currently on. Assumptions are dangerous things....Call me Carmine....

How can you predict your energy usage? Most 'normal' folk spent considerably more this winter due to the very cold weather. You assume, which like you say can be dangerous.......0 -

One of these retailers is the third largest supermarket chain which also sells petrol and diesel. Our expenditure, I would assume, isn't great compared to many people's on these 2 'staples' (I was behind a couple the other day in Asda who's 2 trolley's worth of shopping came to £189! Paid for on their HSBC swich as well). And my £1108 annual net projected figure specifically doesn't take into account the assumed significantly (or any other level) increased Xmas spending, or indeed the assumed major electrical purchases. If these assumptions were entered into my 'equation' the resultant figure would provoke even more attempted ridicule/incredulity/head sctaching/molar gnashing.
