''few problems''?! the main reason of several i left as a distributor nigewick is that they didn't seem to get anything right for me as a customer, and you know there was a way way too long period when every call to them was greeted with the great news of '' there is a wait of approx' 15 minutes''. unforgivable for a company trading on '' small means good service''. how many hard earned customers did you lose- course you wouldn't admit under thumbscrews- and chose to believe charleses excuses and platitudes. my upline left not long after for similar !!!! ups involving mobiles , the broadband debacle [ are you going to tell everyone about that or shall i?] ETC ETC.notice now the customer service line is an 0870 number !! exactly- wake up nigewick,: uwdc is not 'the answer'. keep looking, i did and found MUCH better.

No it isn't! 0870 numbers are expensive, "national rate", numbers but even more cynically, the customer service line is in fact an 0871 (premium rate) number.

It is 5p per minute to call customer services and in my view that is 5p too much. I personally disagree with this cost and the monthly £1.76 membership fee, but, for me the advantages still outweigh the disadvantages.

It is 5p per minute to call customer services

    Another piece of misinformation.

    It actually costs 10p/minute.

Even the UW admits this on their website:
Calls to customer services from a BT phone cost 10p per minute

NigeWick must get preferential staff rates!

My mistake, I should have specified it is 5p per minute for those on T+ (UWDC) phones. I apologise. I still object to paying even that "preferential rate."

Quentin - The actual quote is.....

Calls to these numbers by customers using our Home Phone or BroadCall phone service will be charged at a reduced rate of 5p per minute at all times. Calls from our mobile services will be charged at standard rates. Calls to these numbers from a BT phone cost 10p per minute and costs of calls from mobile networks other than ours may vary

So after all this teeth pulling, and red herrings about preferential rates for UW staff I trust you will agree that anyone calling your customer services department involves using a premium rate number (0871) not a cheaper (but equally unwanted) 0870 number?

PS NigeWick - what's this all about? I had nothing to do with you getting your position at UW - please make that clear.

It was you who stated that I should always declare my interest in Telecom Plus whenever I mentioned the company, as I had the habit of not doing so if I thought it was not relevant to the conversation. So, thanks Quentin!

There is no prefrential rate for "staff" when phoning the company, 5p is the rate that T+ telephony customers pay. I believe that if it was a freephone number, perhaps management would ensure that calls were dealt with rapidly.

    Nigel.

PS - I can always remove the thanks if you do not want them.

    No that's not right either.
    It's what they pay from a T+line.

I was a customer but I make all these kind of calls during working hours from work, so despite being a customer I would still have to pay the 10p rate because I'm at work and not at home when customer services are open.

I appreciate this is phrasing but with all the concern over false claims then you have to be careful what you say if you are representing this (or any other) company.

    Not necessary.

Glad to learn I helped you from getting banned.

If you and your customers get this special rate to phone in to customer services, (provided you are a telephony customer), then the added costs of this (membership fee, monthly charges, minimum monthly useage etc) ought to be mentioned.

In fact the issue of the cost of calling customer services in this thread is really in relation to energy customers wanting to contact your office.

No-one interested in saving money would want to take the UW telephony service, would they?

That is well documented all over this forum.
