I bet our distributors round here would like all potential customers to be as gullible as those poor folk.
That video you quoted, did you check to see if it is copyrighted, and, if so gain permission to publish its whereabouts?

asking the 'yes' couple if they would like to be a UW distributor without even telling them that he would take a cut from any of their future sales. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Changing energy suppliers is a serious commitment, never mind your phone and broadband. You are definitely gullible and I would say stupid if you sign up on the strength of what a salesman tells you. Who is there not whatever you say to 'help' you, they are there to sell you a service, end of story.
Have you ever give your sales patter then said 'you know what, our products are just not for you'? Well done if you have, though I don't believe many salesman would have such ethics. A sale is of primary importance, not what suits the customer. Just look at the millions who were mis-sold an endowment mortgage. Why? Because the muppet selling it took a nice fat commission.0 -
The vast majority of the GBP, I would suggest, are paying over the odds for their gas and electric. Way over. My elderly next door neighbours have been on BG's standard rate for ever since they can remember. I've offered many times in the past to try and get them on the best/cheapest tariff for them (for free, of course!) and they always say they are happy with the compnay/tariff they are with. As a moneysaver, it makes absolutely no sense to me but they are not like me. Or you. Or any of us on here. Neither are the vast majority of the GBP. This board is atypical, in other words.
Talking of trying to help friends/neighbours etc for free, jimexbox, as you didn't answer I'm assuming you missed my question to you the other day when I asked you to confirm that you made it your absolute priority to ensure all your friends/neighbours/little old lady down the road etc were on the very cheapest product commensurate to their usage and needs. And for no recompense. From the way you are structuring your arguments on here, I'm sure you do, of course, and you must have just missed my post.Call me Carmine....

If anyone, young or old asks for my advice I will of course help them to the best of my ability. As to payment, its not something that would even cross my mind until you mentioned it. Although I dont actively walk the streets knocking on strangers doors offering to help them. A stranger knocking on a door in the evening wishing to have a coffee and biscuit, would not be a welcome guest I believe.0 -
In Post #2171That does not answer my question, which was:- Did you read this "All content within this site is subject to copyright - access to which is only available to registered members." and clear your usage with the site owner(s) before posting them?
But in Post #2169, the question had already been answered:Quentin wrote:As it doesn't say that, I couldn't read that!
Are you saying there are some more uw videos available on the net which show them and their reps in an even worse light which you have to register to be allowed to view them?
More to the point, when filming actual interviews with real people, does the uw get permission from the gullibles they film giving them their own/family/friends names and phone numbers before uploading them on to the net for everyone to see?0 -
Tangent alert! It was put on this web site by yourself when you put it there. Even if only repeating the post of another person, you have published it too. You are therefore responsible for any copyright infringement if you had no permission from the people who own the copyright.
The material itself hasn't beeen 'published', merely signposted. Any web lagalists out there with an opinion?0 -
Why would I worry about exposing Utility Warehouse sales techniques
I am an Independent Distributor with Utility Warehouse and any opinions expressed her are my own and may not be shared by the company.
The reason you should worry is simply that they are disgraceful and IMO bring the company into disrepute.
If you really really can't understand why people find it distasteful

From this can we assume you have a problem with sales people in general and therefore pretty much any company that sells things? Sales people are not unique to UW.
Personally I ask anyone I talk to about gas/electricity if they like keeping an eye on energy prices, switching when appropriate, using comparison sites etc. If they do then I point out that it's possible they are saving more by doing that than by using UW, although with the cashback card, free calls, the time it takes to switch supplier etc it can still work out cheaper with UW over a period of time. They can then make a decision based on their preferences.
When talking about mobiles, I ask if they use their mobile a lot. Do they use large amounts of inclusive minutes & texts?. If so, I tell them they're probably better off with another provider - UW simply don't compete on inclusive minutes & texts. If they say they hardly use their free allowance and would be better off with less minutes/texts but a lower monthly fee then I show them the UW offerings. If they are on PAYG then I show them our rates and explain the other benefits (itemised listing automatically included with monthly bill, can top up 'on account' to be paid in the next monthly payment). Again they can make their own decision on whether they feel it's a good deal or not.
Why do I tell people if I think UW isn't right for them? Firstly it's a matter of self respect - I didn't sign up to become some kind of sleazy rip off merchant. Secondly, the way our commission works it's simply not worth tricking someone into taking a service they are likely to cancel soon after.

So, you don't actively try and get your friends on the very best tariff by using the knowledge you have gleaned from here? Why not?Surely someone with your obvious moral fibre and sense of what's right and wrong would be the first to ensure all the people who you hold dear would not be paying a penny more than they should for their utilities? How many of your friends/family are paying over the odds for their utilities? Any idea?
Re-post because no-one has responded yet and this IS a money saving site after all...
Here's my (revised) projected deal (based on much reduced, and frankly not before time, leccy usage). Let's have some properly researched alternatives and links etc. All sensible (not to mention sober ) replies considered. Please...Yorkshire Region.

Let's forget the cashback card for a minute, shall we, as I know that's a major fly in Hugh and 'Fletcher Reede's' ointment.
