You say they have given you a long term saving.

But you only joined in January????

And you must have had an atrocious deal prior to joining the uw - they consistently come way down the price comparison charts, and if you have read the thread you will see their reps admitting they cannot advise moneysavers to go there because of the prices.

Do a comparison now at a comparison site and see your error!

You Quentin obviously have issues with UWDC. I think in the long term for my future not in the short term, by the time I factor in the cashback card and the broadband and telephone deal I will be making a decent enough saving.

Funny your faith with comparison sites. I did just that and they told me, depending on who I entered as my current supplier, that 3 different companies would be cheaper, including the supplier I was actually with. That did it for me.

As for the 0844/5 numbers they are free from the begining of this month I think.

Anyway I am one happy bunny.

Do you have "faith" in the worthless yet much quoted triple guarantee?

And what about this business about them paying customers cashback if they join direct via the switching sites instead of with a rep?
Surely that is up to the individual. I have no problem with that. You sir, I suggest again, have some sort of issues with this company.

If you change over current supplier, then there could be changes as your monthly spend indicates different consumption, depending on your supplier and tariff.

Try inputting uw as your current supplier, and see how many companies can beat it!

You are wrong about 0844/5 numbers being "free from the begining of this month".

You cannot just post "thoughts" that appear to make uw even more attractive than it really is!

How can promoting the worthless guarantee be down to the "individual".

It is worthless, it isn't a guarantee of anything at all.

    You know that!
  • The Sloven, a word to the wise, it's best not to feed the Quentin Troll. He has more time to obsess about UWDC than anybody else it seems (even me and I'm retired!). Just try and keep things positive. Don't let him drag you into an argument (it's meat and drink to him).

Another question for UW distributors? I note that Sainsburys in-store also now sell gift cards for other retailers like B&Q, itunes, Pizza express, Next etc and you can get nectar points on these (even though the actual stores they relate to don't give nectar points), so I was wondering if you could also get the 5% cashback on the purchase of these? TIA.

0844 numbers are not free to call from this month or any other month.

If you want to call their 0844 customer service numbers for free you have to pay for the priviledge.

Distributors say that 0845/0870 calls will be inclusive not free from 1/4/2009 but no one has posted a link giving T&C , Fair Use Policy etc.

I joined the UWDC in January and have nothing but praise for them. I can not understand the vitriol being written on these pages, they make accountable claims, have not offered me a short term saving but a long term consistent one. As soon as my current contract with Virgin Media is finished I'm taking that to UWDC too. I have had cause to call the call centre on 2 or 3 occaisions with minor queries which were dealt with quickly and without fuss and the phone was answered amazingly quickly.
Next month I intend to become a distributor. Thats how much faith I have in this system. So what if I don't get the £200 back, that'll be down to me not the service offered by UWDC.

    Welcome to the forum.

Most of the vitriol comes from disgruntled UW distributors upset that people are prepared to tell the truth about UW and challenge the misleading claims they make. There certainly is irritation amongst some contributors to this thread at these misleading claims.

You are new to UW and MSE, and whist you are correct UW have not offered you a short term saving, you will also find that they have never offered a long term saving either, and absolutely no indication that they intend to do so in the future.

Their prices have always been amongst the very highest available and you can prove that by checking on any comparison website.

So you are again absolutely correct that UW have offered you a long term consistent deal - the only problem is the consistent element will be high prices.

You say they make 'accountable claims'. Well look at them! The triple guarantee' for instance? It is absolutely worthless. It compares itself against the most expensive Tariff available(BG standard) and excudes BG discounts and the UW club fee. In fact at the moment UW prices are even more expensive than BG Standard tariff.

Now if you do become a distributor and tell those you recruit the same as you have posted above, you will be misleading them - no doubt about that.

So rather than fall into the same pattern as many UW reps and complain that some people are telling the truth about UW prices, why not come up with some facts of your own.

Absolutely correct. AFAIK no company offer free 0844 numbers. I also believe their pricing structure would make the energy company's pricing structure look like very uncomplicated.

It is, again, horses for courses. Having had life-shortening experiences of ringing Indian call centres and having had the matter taking maybe 3 times as long to sort out (if it ever did get sorted out) due to the language barrier, I would not baulk at paying 5p per minute to speak to someone who's first language is mine and who can therefore deal with my query in a much faster timescale.

A friend of mine who has a card says you can and that you can also get 5% off Payg Top Up Cards.

He got a BQ voucher in JS with his card and then got another 10% off (Over 60) in BQ.

Quentin you will find this interesting, especially if you read between the lines when reading the reading the posts that have given 10.

The "customers" that give 10 out of 10 give amazingly detailed descriptions of UW...lol
