There's really no such thing as a totally ethical private company, I reckon. Certainly not in the energy industry. And that includes Ebico, BTW.Call me Carmine....

If you have indeed experience with the MOD, you should be aware that one doesn't deploy assets to deal with minor irritants and diversions - the doctrine of proportionate response.
The post above was quite sufficient for that purpose. Which was of course to inform others, and not yourself, that UW have very high prices.
I don't wish to discuss other than objective points on UW pricing and ethics, lest you lapse - again.0 -
Vinnyph
Please discuss UW prices.
If you feel that UW customers should all pay high prices to fund your vision of a UW Utopia, that is a valid argument; albeit not one with which I would agree.0 -
This is from the UW website just to clear this up. You wanted an ethical statement Quentin.
The best deal. Always, for everyone - We don't do introductory offers to entice new customer that suddenly go up in price after a few months. All our memebrs benefit from consistently good value and great customer service at all times, for as long as they remain with us.

Everyone eh?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I joined the UWDC in January and have nothing but praise for them. I can not understand the vitriol being written on these pages, they make accountable claims, have not offered me a short term saving but a long term consistent one. As soon as my current contract with Virgin Media is finished I'm taking that to UWDC too. I have had cause to call the call centre on 2 or 3 occaisions with minor queries which were dealt with quickly and without fuss and the phone was answered amazingly quickly.
Next month I intend to become a distributor. Thats how much faith I have in this system. So what if I don't get the £200 back, that'll be down to me not the service offered by UWDC.0 -
Anyone who has any knowledge of energy and telecom prices knows that UW simply does not compete on price. -
I called them yesterday to find out their new electricity prices for the Southern Region from the 1/4/2009 they said they remain the same.
They also use maximum price (5p a minute) rip off 0844 Customer Service Numbers which they take a cut from, and they charge you at least £21 a year to belong.0 -
Even if they made no reductions in our area we would still be far better off with UW than with any other supplier, including online deals. Their cashback card idea is THAT good. It's looking increasingly like a net £333 annual reduction for us. Almost £30 a month. More if you take into account the £20/mth phone line/up to 24mb BB/free 24/7 calls package that having the 4 services qualifies us for...Call me Carmine....

You say they have given you a long term saving.
But you only joined in January????
And you must have had an atrocious deal prior to joining the uw - they consistently come way down the price comparison charts, and if you have read the thread you will see their reps admitting they cannot advise moneysavers to go there because of the prices.
Do a comparison now at a comparison site and see your error!0 -

Do you have "faith" in the worthless yet much quoted triple guarantee?
And what about this business about them paying customers cashback if they join direct via the switching sites instead of with a rep?0 -
I didn't realise Debenhams was also included in the designated 5% cashback stores list? It isn't mentioned on the cashback card page on UWs site but is mentioned on their prospero site?
http://www.prosperostore.com/
Crikey, our cashback could be even more if my wife's spending in that store last year is replicated. It's almost as if Mrs Carmine was secretly involved in the spending habits research for this card!
Anyone used prosperostore for any of the discounted deals like 30% off cinema tickets or money off hotel stays etc? Are they any good?Call me Carmine....
