  • I need a little advice. Today I received a call telling me carrington carr home finance formerly AWD had mis sold my mortgage and that I am entitled to claim. I'm not sure I fully understand it all and wondered if anyone could shed some light on it for me. The guy had all my details through the ministry of justice and said I had a case as they hadn't given me the correct advise and the best mortgage for my circumstances. Is this just some kind of scam or do I have a case? Any advise would be useful, thanks.

You data is not in the public domain. So, any company cold calling you and telling you that is either telling lies (we see plenty of that) or they have your data unlawfully.

    Were you mis-sold?
The guy had all my details through the ministry of justice

The MoJ dont have your details and do not supply anything to claims companies. That is a well known scam line.
and said I had a case as they hadn't given me the correct advise and the best mortgage for my circumstances.

As they dont have details and dont know you from Adam then its fair to say they are telling lies all over the place.
Is this just some kind of scam

    Sounds like it.

  • They knew the exact date I remortgaged, the company I used and the fee charged. Argh! I'm so careful with everything so how do they get this information.
I have no idea if I was mis sold. I took the deal that was advised to me, how do I know if it was the best one?!
They are sending me paperwork but who/how do I get it checked out??
I didn't give them ANY details over the phone, just listened to the vast amount they knew. Confused muchly!

What is your complaint in relation too? L&G will only consider complaints on some aspects after they took responsibility. Not those from earlier. Pre 2005 sales are largely stuffed if its PPI.

  • The fee was added to our mortgage and therefore liable to interest. They did not give us the best mortgage on offer but the one that gave them the greatest commission. It was 2006. So do I complain to L&G??

Nothing wrong with that. No rules preventing it and it happens every day. Probably most people do it.

They have never been independent. So, therefore dont have to give you the best mortgage. Just one that is suitable for you. You wont get the best unless the best happens to be in their panel.

You can complain to L&G but based on what you have said, you dont appear to have any valid reason to complain.

  • Carrington Carr Home Finance were placed into administration last week due to continuing deterioration in the re-mortgage market

Can anybody tell me, with carrington carr I took at a life policy in 2001 still active. Mybank has had a look at the policy it looks badly worded. I was sold this by CC. Can I still claim. I was told I had to have this to cover my mortgage otherwise the application could not go through.
My policy is with Legal Genral as CC were an agent for them.

I contacted Legal and Genral about a year ago saying I was not happy with it, they never got back to me. Do I have a claim.? This is still an active policy.

I also had a d&d homecare policy taken in 2001 for 5 years . I paid a lump sum for this. Can anything be done about this?

Or are we well and truly had? Such a lot of hard earned wasted money. Looking back how much pressure they put us under so we could re mortgage.

    Can anyone help please..............:(

Mybank has had a look at the policy it looks badly worded.

    How exactly?

Is your bank qualified to make any such judgement. The majority of bank staff are not.
    Can I still claim.

    If you die, yes.
However, if you mean complain, then no.
I was told I had to have this to cover my mortgage otherwise the application could not go through.

That is correct. CC had a model that required you to purchase an insurance contract to enable them to give you free mortgage advice. That is allowed.

L&G have no liability for the sales process in 2001.
I also had a d&d homecare policy taken in 2001 for 5 years . I paid a lump sum for this. Can anything be done about this?

    No. That is pre-regulation.
