2002 Ford Focus Ghia 2.0l
26 mpg.. lots of three mile journeys (work and back) through the winter
28 mpg.. same but around this time of year
31 mpg.. as above for a month but with a 120 round trip today on A and B roads 70 to 40 mph
42 mpg.. summer trip last year to lake district from Norfolk. Lots of motorway then hills and mountain passes for 3 days
please post your own
Mine's pretty shocking then isn't it.. it's done 72k and it's ten years old. In last year since i've had it i've changed the sparks, oil twice, fuel filter, air filter, coolant and brake discs. I've also cleaned out the PCV and always keep tyres topped up. I've been trying to drive economically.. but should I expect better?0 -
I have a 2003 Citroen C3 1.4Hdi. My average is 64.8 mpg over 51k measured, mostly urban driving in North Wales which is not too bad for traffic. I do better on long runs and motorways. My last tankful was 73.2 on a run to the Lake District. I do not crawl around slowly when I am driving but I use hypermiling to optimise my mpg. The best place for mpg comparison I have found is fuelly.com and best place for hypermiling is the forum at hypermilers.co.uk.0

Mazda6 Estate 2.2D, 31 months old, 40,000m. Used mostly for M-way journeys by the lead footed:cool: MrsLA. 45-50mpg.
Mazda2 1.3 petrol, 31 months old, 30,000m. Used by me for local journeys (5-10 miles) on A-roads. 45-50mpg.
We have had over 50mpg out of both of them but never less than 45mpg.0 -
2005 Vectra 1.8 petrol. Company car so initially driven with no care whatsoever. This resulted in low 30s mpg. Petrol costs rising faster than fuel rate caused a rethink and soon I was able to squeeze an extra 80-100 miles out of a full tank!
Best was 42mpg, mostly A roads and motorways driving with very light foot!
Current car is 1.7cdti eco astra. MPG is rather disappointing for a car loaded with eco features, I have never got more than 55MPG out of it.
All figures calculated by filling to full and recording miles (spreadsheet on phone)

Which power output, thought they did two models with the same engine. Had one once as a courtesy car as soon as you hit 2000 revs it was like an on off switch the acceleration really kicked in abruptly to the point it was difficult to drive smoothly."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Honda Civic - 54 plate, 1.7 diesel I average 58-60MPG at 70MPH (speedo speed, tom-tom says 66mph) normally
If I sit at 60 on the speedo I can get it to 66mpg.
was in the peak district this weekend, had 3 other guys in the car and was averaging 50 mpg...0 -
Cit C4 1.6D, usually around 53-58mpg, driving between 60 and 70, usual commute 20mi each way. Trip computer is well out, as on my best trips, it's recorded mpg at 69 for a tank, though I calculated it as 60.
So if I say, I get 69mpg, it sounds far more impressive. So yes, 69mpg!0 -
Toyota Yaris 1.4 Diesel. Mostly rural driving with a regular M'way run most weekends.
Lowest 61.3mpg, highest 69.9mpg0 -
I am amazed by all the people who calculate their MPG using the on car computer, because they are rarely correct.
My simple method, used by many others on various forums is:
Fill car to the brim.
Set trip meter to zero.
Use up the petrol
Fill car to the brim again.
Take a note of how many litres it takes to fill it.
Take note of the trip mileage.
Convert the litres to gallons - 4.547 litres to a gallon.
Then divided the miles travelled by the gallons needed to replenish the tank.
Do this every time, and you will build up an accurate picture of your true MPG.
My own car - 11 year old Ford Mondeo 1.8 petrol (Zetec Verona). The latest MPG - 34.5 (all round use)0 -
