I have had no problem with potatoes from Lidl- used them for roast potatoes/jacket and wedges. I have also mashed them.

£2.63 to add to balance for yesterday

went to buy eggs n milk, with plan to make cakes n quiche today.
but then was tempted by cookies! no need to buy them to be honest but after a 12hr shift i just had to have them :o

doesnt help the waste line though does it! eek!

so today i made breakfast bar type things (loosely based on a nigella recipe) in the oven just now so hopefully it'll taste good.
quiches' in the oven, 2nd attempt at hm pastry (delia's although without lard just increased margerine cos didnt want to go spend more! heres hoping it works) and filled with my veg mush, grated cheese n egg to bind.
and a batch of choc chip fairy cake type things for work peeps - honest!:rotfl:

side note - veg mush mixed with tuna and a bit of mayo = very tasty! veg mush is now a happy accident as was getting bored of tuna mayo!!! :T

Afternoon all, havnt been on for a while again, it will take ages to read up on all the posts. Nipping to asd@ this evening, have made a list ready and have reduced it from £44 to £36 by downgrading some items. if the nice man is there to print off my £5 off £40 voucher i will spend a bit more. I have been looking at the recipe file for some ideas to use up some of the freezer contents. i'm being very frugal of late to make up for huge overspend last month (not grocery shopping). i made my first cottage pie on monday with some left over beef & a jug of left over gravy. it was fab will be making again. i mixed the beef with some whizzed uo veg and i topped it with swede, potato & cheese mash. fantastic tips from this forum you have all been a huge help. thankyou so so much.

Lasagne with extra veg sounds lush, mmmm. :)
Does anyone here do an OS veggie version, I wonder? Would love to hear the recipe if so!:T

I've got the last of my whoopsied (n sprouting:eek:) potatoes ready for roasting. A pot of whoopsied carrots n parsnips ready to boil and mash together with lots of butter, shredded (whoopsied) baby greens and marinated pork chops (reduced of course!!) ready for the grill. Will serve with gravy and apple sauce. I'm STARVING but loving to hear what folks are having. Gives me inspiration for my own meal plans.

  • Popped to Mr T armed with my (finally in date) MOC so had to get to the £40 mark (a lot for me to spend now but I would've done that without thought not long ago ;)) and also had a £10 gift card (following complaint).

Anyway, got a few bits on offers - stocked up on the stock cubes I really like (should have enough for around 6 months:)) and a few other bits & pieces .... incl 2 chickens - supposed to not be buying meat again this month but just couldn't get near the £40 without them!

Final total to add after cats stuff removed (separate budget) was around the £17 mark so quite pleased with that :D

    Afternoon, everyone,

sounds like some of you are having the truly grot weather we had yesterday :(. Today has been nicer, though cold, so I've taken the opportunity for a browse at the shops, yay for sales....:rotfl:

Grocery-wise, I got some veges, crisps and diet peps1, and managed to spend £8.00, Have added this to signature. Normally, I would add in wash up liq, cat litter etc, but I'm just recording food items in this month's gc budget. Won't be shopping until next Friday now.

Using freezer stuff (hm meals) the next few days. Then hope to have a batch cooking day on Sunday to fill the freezer with more hm meals. May have to buy an onion or two, then.

Keep up the good work, everyone.

    LB xx

Have just found the pesky receipt from monday's shopping, £9.47 to add. Lots of little bits and pieces that you can't get at !id! like porridge oats and the only type of toothpaste that ds will use :o.

Low on milk so meant to do the weekend shop today but had to work and really don't want to go back out with the kids in tow so it'll be tea from stores. Chick pea curry for the grown ups, yum.:)

    baking disaster!

    1. cakes for work got burnt! (distracted by watching hairy bikers! still edible but not for work peeps, NSD turning into need to buy cakes on way to work :( will try not to spend too much on them!)
    2. my wee quiches got stuck to the bottom of the pan. so had to practically scrape them out! think i just didnt grease the pans well enough!

on plus side, i obviously had to sample the scraped out quiches' for quality to control :rotfl:and the pastry tasted quite good (as did the filling!:j)

sorry, its not really GC but i had to vent! off to get ready for cake buying and work!
