    Loving the challenge so far!!

Just enjoyed a broccoli n felled soup with home made bread.

The broccoli was 10p and the fennel was 7p (whoopsied of course!)

I also used the stems of a bunch of coriander (used the leaves in a biriani that I took to an event). The broccoli stem was also used of course as well as the florets and it was the most refreshing, clean tasting soup. Mmmm.
Cost PENCE to make. The stock was reserved from cooking a turkey drumstick.

So rewarding and satisfying knowing that the family are being well fed for so little!!!

Well on target for my weekly limit of £30!! Yay me:T

Cheers guys for keeping the grocery thread thriving for such a long time. Long may it continue:T

    Hi everyone,

Many thanks to Helen, Rosieben and Zippychick for keeping us on the straight and narrow :A

Helen - I will keep tabs of my spending in my signature thanks :)

I have paid my 2nd purse for items used, plus I have placed an AF order. Visited MrT this morning - bill came to £83.93  of which over £20 on razor blades, mens deo and lightbulbs.

Have updated my sig. totals and have meals up to and including Good Friday. We are going away for a few days after Easter which will come from a different budget, but must try hard to keep the focus this month.

Good luck one and all x

    Hi Lisa and welcome

Not too sure about the sealed tin (anyone?) but the second purse has it's own, self-explanatory thread - 2nd Purse Challenge 2012 (sorry I can't do links doh). Just pop it in the forum search and it should come up.

Hi All, I'm going to join in with this one. My target is £130 for the month. OH gives me £50 to spend on shopping per week, so the savings are going to be saved up to buy formula for when we stop getting it on perscription, and when I've got £200 saved in the shopping account, I will transfer the rest of the savings made by this challenge into the house deposit account :)

Had a shop today - £7.25 - will change sig.
Dinner tonight was HM garlic wedges, salmon, mushrooms and tomatoes. I gave a couple of bursts from my rapeseed oil filled sprayer into fry pan to cook the veggies. Photo not good tonight.

I've always used some oil after the pasta was drained, or a sauce of some sort, then it doesn't dry out as quickly. :)

Ahhhh fantastic :D will try a bit of olive oil on some next time I cook some & see if that works (before putting in my lunch box, as nothing worse than rock hard pasta in amongst a salad!:rotfl:
tigerfeet2006 & NickJW There is a much much larger Mr Ts that had a serious infestation two years ago in Martle***m in Suffolk. So nuts to the Mr T spokesman - the Metros are a franchise, hence the readiness to close it down. The Big Brother of the i paper published a shocking article http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/tesco-leads-league-of-shame-on-cleanliness-1787323.html which you may want to read... or maybe not :(

Been up since 4 ... couldn't sleep http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=52149341&postcount=11. Awful as the joy of having the waggly tail when you come in just cannot be described and has been missed daily since I lost Ben, as well as the walks .... I love walking but just can't do it by myself (for any distance anyway). Not sure what I'm going to do with myself today .

    Hi Lisa

The 'sealed pot challenge' is basically getting hold of a container that is sealed in some way, either a terramundi, tin from £ shop that needs to be opened with tin opener, homemade papier mache pot or even a pot that has been sealed with tape. Then either daily, weekly, or whenever you can afford you throw your spare change in. It runs from Dec 1st to Nov 30th. Ideally you don't dip into it, (which is the hardest bit :D ) but it's there if you need to. Then you open your pot and declare what you have saved and spend as you please, usually on Xmas.

The idea is that you pot all the loose change and save it rather than spend it because it is in your purse/ pocket. You just have to be careful that you don't pot your change then need to get more money out of the bank as this deafeats the object.

    Hope that makes sense.

Ahhhh really sorry to hear this Rising, it brought a tear to my eye. Must be so hard. Try not to be too hard on yourself, it obviously wasnt a decision you made lightly. ((Hugs))
