Its definitley a pricing issue and not weights and measures.

Lets not forget there is an onus on them to price accuratley so if they are consisttantly mispricing the there is a problem.

    Yes, that sounds reasonable.
So a few hundred pounds of extra sales probably amounts to less than a hundred pounds of "clear profit".

It seems that the OP's figures are grossly exaggerated. ;)

not at all - 3-4000 customers 'per day' being fleeced £1 (like we were today and nearly every day we go in) = £3-4000 per day
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

    Oh, forgive me.

I didn't realise that every customer that goes into Tesco every day buys oranges of one sort or another.
    My mistake.

Aren't you also assuming that both the oranges on offer and those that you erroneously bought cost Tesco the same amount?

Wealdroam, normally you are wise in the ways of this forum, but you have failed here.

The issue of deliberate mis-representation is definitely in the realms of consumer rights, as to deliberately misrepresent prices is unlawful.

This is not a rant, this is bringing up a possible unlawful practice, and one that (in a similar vein) has already been raised on Watchdog etc.

Now, I've not seen this particular form of making a customer believe they are getting an offer when they are not, but as has been said people do not check their receipts all the time, especially at purchase, and should Tesco be deliberately placing products on the wrong shelf, then this needs addressing.

And this IS the right forum on this board for this,

That all said, my first thoughts is that this would be a franchised Tesco Express, rather than a main store.

    Tesco have franchises?

I worked at Tesco - albeit over 5 years ago - but at that time all Tesco branded shops were owned by Tesco.

See this is why I like asda, it is also why i check my receipts.

Rarely, I'll buy something on "special" but the offer has ended and staff just havent changed the price yet. Go to customer service till and they'll change it then and there, give you the extra you paid back and also give you a gift/shopping card with £2 on it.

Have to say though, never had an instance where there are items not in the offer but still displayed as if they are.

You have said the shelves had "other" products on them.
The offers you are refering to, were they specific to a size etc.
If tesco advertised 2 750g jars of a brand for x ammount and they were out of stock and only had 1kg jars in stock i cant see how the offers are misleading.
If, they had a shelf edge label saying £1 and it was full of goods priced at £2 then thats a different issue. Did you see 2 price labels for each product or 1 that covered both?

Well in post #20 the OP is talking about his local superstore...

Probably reasonable to assume that that is the store that is getting things wrong. ;)

They are misleading if they then fill the shelf with similar but non-offer products. And if this happens repeatedly, then I refer you to Occam's Razor.
