Sunday lunch went well and the lamb was totally lush!! 6 of us at the table and everyone raved over it. Not bad for £13!
I have finally completed my to-do list of all the jobs/stuff needed to buy to get the house in order before my big overpayment mission. Its a long list but manageable to complete by December if i keep focussed. Off work this week so i'll be doing some decluttering and ebaying for part of it. Bagging up all loose change and taking to bank to pay for paint for the hall will also be done this week. Every little helps as they say.
Discovered the joys of Approved Food last week and now have couscous and other bits n' bobs filling the cupboards. I don't aim to spend anything on food for the next 2-3 weeks now except for fresh veg/milk. That should take me to payday

Well well...£22.55 so far bagged up, all from loose change hanging around the house. Looks like I might just be able to get that paint this week! Nice one!!0

Well done, you are off to a flying start!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Thanks Squirrel

In total i have £32 in loose change now all bagged up and ready to pay for my hall paint..all of it..AND new lampshade for the downstairs hall. Woohooo!! With my nectar points I might just have enough for a lampshade for the upstairs hall too!!!
One step closer...

Been so busy working and doing catch ups on life stuff that I've not posted, bought my paint or done any MF wanabee stuff since last time i posted here. Even the coins are still bagged up ready for paint. BUT I did win a tenner on last Saturdays lottery so all helps. Got my mother staying for a week from next Saturday and we're going to get curtain material for my living room (birthday pressie from her) so that will be one more think off my to-do list and therefore a step forward in the MF direction. Later today I'm off to Lidl to stock up on baked beans (£1 for 4 on offer) as I use them in casseroles and stews and they're £2+ everywhere else !! Then I need to update my freezer contents list and work out what meals I'm cooking for the week. Also need to buy a duvet set for the bed mum's having as the quilt and covers I've got are dire for the spare bed. All money but necessary

Hi Pixnmix,
It sounds like you have a lot of good ideas and are very focussed. I'm looking forward to keeping up with your MFW progress.
Good luck!:)0 -
Thanks Mistermotivated.
Today I was off work and toddled to Dunelm Mill. 2 curtain poles later and was ready to choose the fabric for the living room curtains. And did..It's a lovely floral design with lime green and cream design. The poles will go up this weekend. I'll check the measurements from those and then order the material. I reckon on next payday (end of May) I can get the floor lamp and coffee table needed to finish the living room off and that will mean I can move onto the hall..next step in the direction of getting the house finished ready to start overpayments
Oh and yesterday I got a lovely surprise. I had applied for 2nd adult rebate off my council tax as my son earns a low wage. (OH doesn't live with me). Well..the letter states I get 15% off, so will be paying £14 a month less every month...woohooo !!!0 -

Another day, another achievement

The ton bag of gravel on the above list was delivered yesterday..£75 and that's in addition to the 3 bags I had delivered a month ago  Its all laid now and looks lovely. Just need the flat stones and some plants but that can wait till another payday.
Forgot to say in last post that i've signed up for online banking with the bank that i have my mortgage with so I can keep track of the total going down and for ease of overpaying from the end of the year.
Tonight it's takeaway night. My mum's gone home this morning after a week staying with us and I'm looking forward to a break from cooking
and a few vino's. Ok, so it's not saving cash but hey ho.... 0 -
Nothing to report on the moneysaving front that's new news. In fact the money's been travelling in the wrong direction over the past 2 weeks with our holiday to Holland coming up soon and the urgent need for new clothes (I really had very little that fitted/ wasn't ripped/ wasn't washed out etc, cos I hate clothes shopping so avoid it when possible. Result - I urgently needed casual stuff to help make me at least half respectable !!!
So I decided that May would be a total wipeout on the "doing the house up" front except for the curtain poles and gravel. End of June's pay packet I have decided to buy wardrobes for my room as the one I have is very small, second hand from my daughter, is falling to pieces and has no storage for shoes etc. It really is dire! Not that I have a LOT of stuff to put in it but if i keep the existing wardrobe much longer I'll walk in one day and find the whole thing collapsed on the floor..yes it's that bad!
So, nothing to discuss this time, but look out end of june. That's when the fun (?) restarts
