I try and rebel everynow and again and suggest without ponies we could have a life. :(

But I have been told in no unertain terms what I can do if I don't like it.

If you hitch your post to someone with horses you had either better get used to it or move along. Just wait until you have to buy ponies for the kids!

I think OP is being judged a little harshly at times tbh....I can see where he's coming from :)

My question is to wonder why there is so much "yours and mine" happening where salaries and money is concerned?

I know everyone's set-up is different, but in our house there is just income....it doesn't matter whether it's being earned by "him " or "me", or whether it's benefits....it's all just income. From that income all of the outgoings are paid and what's left is split in half for each to do with as they wish. Pets, kids, house, travel, essentials, groceries, etc all come out of the main pot.

I think that if the OP and his wife were to sit down and really work out their monthly outgoings and income they might find that by working together they actually have more disposable income than they think. If they choose to save a portion of this money towards a deposit before "spends" are divvied then they probably can. If Mrs OP wishes to spend all her "pocket money" on horsey stuff then that is her choice...Mr OP can spend his as he wishes too.

I wish you luck with this.....the first few years of a young child are so stressful, (and place different stresses on each parent) but if you work together you can get through it :)

You obviously do need/use dogwalker 5 days per week....
Dog walker is £10 per hour, £50 per week, around £220 - £230 per month.
