No hot water? How do you bathe/shower? Do you have to boil a kettle to wash pots?0 -
Im being priced out of takeaway coffee too...
I refuse to be priced out of my favourite bathroom cleaner. OH bought some cheap aerosol mousse stuff that smelt awful and ammonia-y.... If the bathroom ever has to smell of wee it should be before cleaningMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Stopped buying Sunday papers a while back - all around the £1.50 mark and just full of the previous week's news anyway. From next week I won't be buying a Saturday newspaper either - 75p for yet more rehashed old news and general rubbish - I can find another use for that £3 a month.
I live in the country so every trip has be multi use now. Whereas before on a Saturday I would go to the gym first thing, come home and have a shower etc before going back out to shop. Nowadays I spray myself with some more deodorant after my classes and go to Asda etc straight from the gym. I might look like I've been pulled through a hedge backwards but I no longer care - saves diesel, wear and tear and so on.
Stopped buying anything for lunch a while back - it's always something from home and sometimes leftovers. The only challenge to that is when I have to fly on business and I can't take my tubs of pasta etc with me and would have to buy lunch. I tend to organise meetings over lunchtime and then I don't feel the need to go out. There's no danger of me fading away to a shadow anyway!0 -
I hardly buy magazines now.
I am much more wary & conscious of what fuel I use as it costs so much just to commute for work. Am changing gyms so I can save on fuel & go to one near to my house.
Don't buy as many sandwiches & have started to take a packed lunch to work.
No longer buy bottled water & refill my water bottle with tap water.
Get lot fewer take aways & they are just now occasional treats.
Much more frugal with my gas & electric.٩(•̮̮̃•̃)۶ ٩(-̮̮̃-̃)۶ ٩(●̮̮̃•̃)۶ ٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ ٩(-̮̮̃•̃)۶ :EasterBun0 -
Used to work in central London - takeout for dinner, sandwiches for lunch and take-out coffee several times a day. Used to be able to afford magazines as well.
Now never have take-out coffee, almost never have takeout, bring leftovers or smart price pasties to work, and only buy a trade magazine.
Travelling to visit family is difficult now. I have a 60 mile commute each day - so have little money left for transport due to the price of diseal.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
Buying lunch is a once-in-a-blue-moon treat. Far too expensive! I also don't buy magazines and newspapers anymore and get the vast majority of my content from free sources online (the rest? Husband buys one weekly mag and one weekly paper a week then passes them on to me!).
I only buy books and CDs if I actually cannot get them any cheaper elsewhere and am on the lookout for free ebooks all the time.
I also don't make monetary donations to charity anymore, bundling up belongings and sending them in the direction of the nearest charity shop instead.
I have a basic mobile phone.
Despite this I don't feel hard up at all & do enjoy life0 -
Have finally broken the taxi habit, I live a little out of town these days but still use the same few pubs.
The bus to the town centre is £2.70 return. On a nice day it is almost as quick to walk. A cab £14+ out and home.
Several free pints on each visit!
Cab now relegated to emergencies. I can almost see the drivers weeping as they go by!

I've cut back on the kinds of cakes etc I bake. I no longer make something just because I like the sound of the recipe, I check to see how many of the ingredients I already have and will only bake it if I can get away with buying two or three additonal ingredients. For example it's been a very long time since I baked a cheesecake, it just works out too expensive.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
