If I do buy a magazine I tend to give it to a colleague afterwards so its not just chucked away, saves someone else a bit of money who may have been priced out of buying a magazine.
Not sure that I agree entirely on the taking your own drink. If it's big pubs then fair enough they can afford it. But I work in a small sports club/bar and we're starting to have problems with this, as we have a massive playing field so loads of footie and cricket supporters. Most people are now taking there own drink and bypassing the bar. Unfortunatly it puts us at risk in several ways, 1) the field is covered under our licence so if someone underage gets drunk we have a risk of getting in trouble 2) our bar suffers and is at more risk of closing.
We also have a big problem of this happening at private functions and found out people are sneeking their own alcohol in, it affects our place a lot.
I'm not having a go, I just couldn't do it myself.
I think the biggest thing we are going to have to cut down this year is my OH playing cricket. It's his release from work. He works very long hours, between 12 and 15 a day in the summer and therefore needs that something at the weekend to be himself. But it's now £10 a game to play, plus equipment (which is defintely not cheap and need a lot more than footie), plus diesel which is quite a lot as even the nearest team are 15 miles away, plus a drink in the oppositions pub after the game, and one when you get back to their own pub. And he does this twice a weekend. It costs an absolute fortune. He's cutting it back to once a weekend this year, but may have to cut it back completely. It's wrong when you can no longer afford to even have a hobby.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0
