Independant Gas Transporters

Options
I have bought a new house, and been living here for over 3 years. All this time, I have been paying Scottish Power an extra 10.96p a day because we have an independant gas transporter to deliver our gas (not Transco). I am currently searching for cheaper gas and electricity, but I'm not sure if the quotes I'm getting include or exclude this.

Does anyone know if they are included? Does anyone know of any service providers that don't charge this ridiculous fee?

Any help will be appreciated.

Ian.

British Gas do mine with no extra charge. I have had a few over the years and they either charged more or wouldnt offer a service at all. I was quite pleased when BG came top on the switch comparison site.

We're IGT too. I always dread changing suppliers as it is hard to do an accurate comparison as you need to factor in the IGT charge. I've not come across any easy solution so far I'm afraid other than checking them all manually :o

use money supermarket as you can select you have an igt gas tariff or if you use a broker that does not have that facility then simply add
£42 for P/Gen and SPower and £31.50 for Npower to the quote you receive
also if you are considering splitting your gas and elec suppliers up don't consider EDF as they charge £38- £64 for single fuel gas IGT.

Most suppliers now charge a fee for customers on Independent networks, this is genuinely because there are additional costs associated with the administration of the process. What I would be inclined to do is just to keep shopping around. It may well be that in the future the industry processes will change and the costs will disappear.

Energy Guarantee with powergen doesn't charge the IGT Charge.

Certain products with certain suppliers will remove the charge its worth checking with them to see if there is something available for you :)

I pay IGT charge, I thought all companies charged but some are up front and others just put it in with an increased unit charge.

Ebico does not apply an extra charge for IGT.

Some do - Others are just various products that remove the charge. For example with powergen energy guarantee is actually cheaper then the standard rate at the moment.
