Hi everyone,
Just been having a look on the Slimming World website and if all goes well at this job interview tomorrow I'll be back in work so am considering joining. I admit it's not something that has tempted me because i'm quite shy and not really a fan of 'putting myself out there' sort of thing.
Can anyone tell me what to expect if i do join? I'd rather hear it from you guys than read about it on the web. Do they promote a specific type of diet or is it generally help and support and advice? And did i read right that said it was £5/week?0 -

As far as we are told within the group i attend SW is not a diet it is a healthy lifestyle choice. Its not a diet as in you starve yourself of all the 'naughtiness' instead you are made aware of syn values for everyday items and adapt them into your meals/treats. By changing simple things on a day to day basis you can drastically change your waist line. You will need to be organised and able to plan on a day to day basis to keep within your limits but after a few weeks on the plan it becomes second nature.
There is a joining fee which varies dependant on what offers are available at the time and then it is £4.95 unless you pay for either the 6 or 12 week countdown. On average if stuck to plan 100% most people lose around 5-6lb on the first week making your target that much closer.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

1lb loss again for me this week. I'm not totally happy as I've really stuck to plan, but at least it is a loss.

Morning everyone and welcome back Piglet and good luck. Did you ever do the fashion show? I can't remember reading if you did or not.
Well surprise surprise I've lost 1.5lb this week which I'm happy about. When I look at it in kilos it's not much and that's what my scales are measured in but I immediately converted it and I'm happy. I've realised I've got to get the kilo numbers out of my head because I'd be really happy if I could lose 1lb a week.Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -
Morning,
Piglet - you are such an inspiration, can't see why you shouldn't go any further!
Also well done to Stef, Jay and especially Med Mum - fab losses! :j
Kjm - hope your tooth (or lack of) is feeling better todayshellieholly wrote: »Blowden Thank you. "complete lack of self confidence is telling me I shouldn't go for it You come across so organised and confident.. don't persuade yourself out of something that is a step up, out and on!
Thank you. It's true I am organised but any confidence shown on here is unrepresentative of what I'm really like, lol! I am psyching myself up to apply but need to get someone to give me some training in a particular technique first; when she gets back from holiday I will decide properly.Hi everyone,
Just been having a look on the Slimming World website and if all goes well at this job interview tomorrow I'll be back in work so am considering joining. I admit it's not something that has tempted me because i'm quite shy and not really a fan of 'putting myself out there' sort of thing.
Don't worry. the classes are always friendly and welcoming. I'm pretty shy and I went on my own, which was a bit scary, but now there are a few ladies I always sit with and everyone chats to everyone else. I think you can sit in on a class once without paying so give it a try and see what you think
Went slightly over syns last nighthad to do some shopping after work and already had tea made and ready to heat but was starving when I got in and had to wait for OH to feed the cats before I could do the tea, so ended up eating a packet of french fries, a piece of cheese and a pitta bread over what I should have had. not the end of the world and going to do some walking over the weekend but I am slightly annoyed with myself. Anyway, green today, and going to try and keep the syns down:
B: Bran flakes (B), milk (A), banana
L: Mugshot, strawberries
T: Egg, chips, beans
S: 2 x alpen light (B), Kit Kat (5.5), pineapple

So what are these syns? Is it similar to weight watchers with their points?
And Blodwen, i like the idea that you can still have eggs, chips and beans!0 -

It is similar in a way, but unlike WW where you have to point everything, a lot of basic foods are 'free' on SW and some are counted as limited healthy extras (varies depending on which form of the plan you are following). Syns are more for treats and extras that aren't free. For example, on extra easy, which is the main plan nowadays, you can have as much fruit, veg, lean meat, fish, pasta, potatoes, rice, pulses etc as you want, then a measured allowance of bread or cereal and milk or cheese, then you get 5-15 syns a day to use on any extras. This can be chocolate, alcohol, sauces, or anything you like really. Something like a KitKat would be 5.5 syns. The leader will explain all this to you when you go- sounds complicated but it's easy when you get used to it!
Yep, I love the fact that you can have 'normal food', and as much as you like!2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]
