I think there's a dual rationale behind SW: the psychological and the nutritional. That makes sense to me because most weight gain is because of both factors to some degree or another. So the while we can see the obvious nutritional reasoning behind having limited number of syns, there's also the psychology in that if we had none then we might give up the plan altogether. That's why SW always advertise themselves by saying it's a healthy eating plan (nutrition) and nothing is banned (psychological).:o sorry to ramble.

    My EE plan today:
B: baked beans, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: slice of ham, fried LO veg, beetroot, cornichons, tsp brown sauce
D: roast pork, SW roast potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, broad beans, cauliflower, gravy
    Syns: sauce, gravy, wine

SF a bit low esp breakfast but I've still to attack that massive melon.

Afternoon everyone. Well I have been back on plan 100% yesterday and today. I had less than 5 syns yesterday (1.5 on an asda couscous snackpot thing & a couple on a splash of sweet chilli sauce in my veg stirfry for tea) and trying to have minimal syns today too.

if I can get away with 7lb on at WI tomorrow I will be pleased as the last 3 weeks have seen me in holiday mode. However, I do feel like I have had a real break - from work, stress and dieting - and now I'm refreshed and ready to start again. whether I'll still feel like that after my first week back to work or not I'm not sure!!

When I was heading off on hols I felt really proud of myself and slim but when I got there and everyone was stripped off to bikinis etc I felt really lumpy and lardy and realised I still have a long way to go on my journey.... BUT when we were packing the cases to come home, we put them on the luggage scales to make sure they were still within allowance and I realised that I had lost the same amount of weight as one of our filled cases!! That gave me a huge boost.

My next target is to get to 5st off by my works xmas party on 23rd Dec. Hopefully it should be do-able but I'm going to need your help & support guys.

Very excited to just find this ' group'....I am going to re-join Slimming World on Tuesday evening...lost 2 stone last time I was there and am putting the brakes on now as have put around 10 lbs back on...just got too complacent!

So..it's back to getting myself sorted....Mega Lbs to lose, but have to do it...
A huge thank you :kisses2: to all ones who take the time to post these competitions. I always seem to find them way after someone else does and is too late to post. :rotfl:
    Thank you.

Welcome Ruth  lovely to have you :j

    Zippychick

Thanks for your post. I'm not worried about what the scales might say on Tuesday - it will just be frustrating if its another gain. But Mr T delivered my grapefruits :j and I've cooked up some chicken to have for my lunch this week (with added salad bits) plus slow cooked some beef today with peppers/carrots/onions so dinner tonight and a couple of nights in the week - sorted :T

Plus I have carrot/pepper sticks to snack on. also leftover cucumber. so I just need to stop those mid morning visits to the shop for chocolate and make sensible choices if its a visit to the pub for lunch.

I have my menu for most of the week in my head for the week - just need to get it down on paper.

I posted before about a skinny latte. Why does it have syns if its coffee (free) and skimmed milk (free HEA)? Does anyone know? xx

If it's just coffee & skimmed milk you can use it as a HEA.
But you need to be very careful about sizes & anything hidden they may put in.

Personally, i count all black coffee as free.

the syns in actual coffee from a coffee shop come because there is a calorie difference. instant coffee is pretty much low cal (as in 1 cal low!) but a single shot of espresso gives about 15 cals so going off 1 syn = 20 cals you nearly hit one syn. Nero, for example, use 2 shots as standard so just one americano there is actually giving you around 30 cals so def over 1 syn and nearly at 2 AND getting to be the same as e.g. one quality street. if you had a day out and had say 2 coffee stops at a nero, your hitting 3, nearly 4 hidden syns you wouldn't really think about and doing that over a week will add up without you realising which is why they have tried to stop that by making them syns.

personally, id use a HEA serving as the milk in a latte BUT you would need to know the exact ml of milk in your drink to do it and be sure about it and you still would need to add in the 1 or 2 syns for the coffee shot.

I think the worst value i saw for black coffee was a pret americano in the biggest size for 35 calories. that is an actual chocolate you could eat instead.

Theres so much discrepancy between shops with the sizes and number of shot per size policies i think SW have done an average just to be safe.

tbh, it only becomes an issue if you are drinking large amounts on a daily basis or regularly get the biggest size and try and convince yourself its really just one HEA.

my vitamins are technically syned but i don't count those syns either :rotfl:

Hi everyone, been a while since I posted o this thread.
    I'm a target member ( well I was about 3 weeks ago).
I'd like to give a gentle warning to anyone like me who lost the weight quite easily and it became almost a hobby.
I went to pound and a half under target in the first week, then put on one pound. So still a bit under. Now this target weight was I believe always too low for me. Acheivable, yes, but too low for my age and height.Noone to blame but myself, I set it.
I then got a nasty tummy bug and have lost a further 3 pounds in the last week.
I look like sh*t in all honsety, I appear to have aged about 10 years.
I'm beginning to feel better but I have concluded that you need to keep a few extra pounds of reserve on you!
I will be backing away from SW for a bit and trying to just get a bit more meat on me bones. Not fat though!
Please take it easy ladies, stay strong and healthy, the wasted away look is not good as my family will tell you.
PS I will be taking "my medicne" as 4 squares of dark chocolate a day, toast and and ? I dont know, what else would be good?
